Feeding Instructions

The amount of food your cat requires will depend on activity level, age, and environment. Feed at room temperature and refrigerate unused portion. Always provide access to clean, fresh water.

For adult cats, feed about 2 cans per 7 lb of body weight.

Transition Instructions

It is always a good idea to start out slowly on a new diet with any pet. Slowly increase the amount of new food being added to the present diet over a period of 5 - 7 days. If any digestive upset or loose stool occurs, make the transition more gradual. It is a good idea to allow your pet's digestive system to calm down and return to normal before proceeding. There is no need to rush this transition. Once your pet is accustomed to NatureS Variety foods, you can rotate freely between forms and flavors.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where are your products made?

All NatureS Variety foods and treats are manufactured in the United States.

Where do your meat and poultry come from?

NatureS Variety is committed to using high quality, safe ingredients from government-inspected facilities. Our natural ingredients are continuously inspected for quality and tested for analytical compliance before being accepted at our facilities.

Why do I occasionally notice a slight change in the color of your diets?

NatureS Variety does not include any artificial colors or dyes in our wholesome foods. As a result, the color of our food is totally dependent upon the color of our healthy ingredients, and may vary from time to time. Absolutely consistent and uniform color does not come from nature.

Why do I occasionally notice a difference in the moisture content of your Instinct cans?

Our Instinct canned diets are predominantly meat and are all natural (with added vitamins and minerals). As a result, our canned diets will directly reflect the amount of natural moisture that is in a variety of meat or poultry. For example, lamb is a drier meat - so our lamb formulas often have less noticeable moisture than our rabbit formulas (as rabbit meat has higher levels of natural moisture). Please be assured that the natural moisture present in our canned diets will never exceed the percentage that is guaranteed on the label.

What is the shelf life for your products?

Instinct, Prairie, and Homestyle cans - 2 years (unopened).

How are your foods preserved?

NatureS Variety uses only natural preservatives for our wholesome foods. For our canned diets, the manufacturing (or retort) process sterilizes the food and removes all air, thus there is no need for additional preservatives.

How do I store your kibble and canned diets?

We recommend storing our canned foods in a cool place, protected from extreme heat or cold. Once a can has been opened, refrigerate the unused portion until it can be fed (up to a day or so).

My cats absolutely love this food. It is moist and they love the gravy. The rabbit is an easy formula to digest.

  • My cat does not hate, but certainly no favorite

    By on

I bought this as a cost-effective alternative to other brands. He really likes the Natural Instinct version but will only eat this brand if mixed heavily with other foods. Disappointing, as I was hoping to save a little money! Like people, cats differ vastly in their tastes, so it is probably worth a try to someone else.

When my nearly 17 year-old cat developed Irritable Bowel, a holistic vet recommended Nature's Variety Pride. Although Boston was already eating a high quality, limited ingredient canned food, I was told that rabbit is the most highly digestible, natural and best option for a cat with Irritable Bowel and the diarrhea and vomiting that go along with it. I have two other cats and all three had to switch to Ritzy's Rabbit as they are all free-fed. This is the only food I have ever tried in over 20 years that all three cats were eating within a couple hours. After about 10 days of gradually adding Ritzy's Rabbit Recipe to the old diet and finally switching completely, Boston's vomiting stopped and.....sorry for the graphic description here......his stools, which were the consistency of pudding before I started this food, were normal, firm poop. Yes, it's expensive, but it's absolutely worth it. It's a very high quality, natural and healthy alternative to prednisone or other medication used to treat IB. I don't know if it's fair to say it saved Boston's life, but it absolutely cleared up his IB and he's a lot more comfortable and a lot happier. And I am, too. This is a fantastic food! … more

  • picky cat likes this

My cat is so picky but surprisingly he likes this. He does have a preference over the texture too. He prefer the flaked vs minced and he knows the difference.

  • A hit with KC

    By on

KC really enjoys this product! She likes most Natures Variety Canned Cat Food. Even though the pride MINCED, not the Flaked has guar gum in it(only) I'm ok with that opposed to most other grain free cans out there which have so much more questionable ingredients in them. She also like the Natures Variety instinct cans as well. I alternate her cans day by day of natures variety and she hasn't gotten bored yet.
