  • Nutro Max is the Cats Meow

Ive been using Nutro Max Cat for ~9 years. I have 4 cats and they all love this food. We have a feeder for them. When the feeder starts to run low on food, they all start to circle around me with a panic look like they think it will be gone forever and how will they survive! I fill the feeder back up and they are comforted just knowing their favorite food has been refilled. My oldest cat is 9 years and the youngest is 7. They are all indoor cats. About a year ago, my cat "Joey" got trapped for 12 days during a move in the hot summer. We'd been searching for him at the old house, but he actually got trapped by the movers (complete accident) in a bureau that was being temporarily stored in a garage with other furnishings while our house was being finished. When we found him (faint meow got my attention), we rushed him to the vet hospital hoping for the best. He was severely dehydrated and lost 6 lbs (he was a big boy) but all his tests looked miraculously good. He stayed in the hospital for 3 days as they slowly hydrated and monitored him. He was back to his same sweet self as soon as he came home. I'm convinced that the nutrition in the Nutro Max that I've always fed my cats made him strong enough to survive the ordeal. … more

  • It's a win.

I recently switched to this brand after having success with their dog food. My cats loved it from the very first scoop, one bit me because I didn't get her bowl on the ground quick enough and she could smell it through the bag. During the process of changing their foods, they would take big bites, spit it all on the ground, and pick out only the new food, leaving me to clean up the mess of old unworthy to be eaten food. The kibbles are bigger so they have to actually take the time to chew and can't just inhale it, which has led to less throw up. It hasn't even been a month yet so I can't report on any major changes but if it continues on this route, I can't imagine we will ever need to change I recently switched to this brand after having success with their dog food. • 17 + years and counting

My indoor kitty Momo has been eating this food since he was about a year old, on recommendation by his vet. He's now 17+ , still indoors, happy, active, no mobility issues or on any medication. And, he still loves this food!

  • Both cats love it

My older cat has been on this brand/food for about 4 years, no issues, he seems too like it. My other adopted senior I've had for two years and he seems to like it too. I've tried switching foods and it didn't go well.

  • Back to the basics

We had used Max Cat for years for Percival. Then we decided to change to "better" more "high end" food. Recently we came back to this. It actually works better for him. The individual kibbles are bigger so they have to be chewed which then prevents eating too fast. We get the 3 pound bag monthly because the old man (almost 13 years old) has decided he will only eat "fresh" food. Chewy is great! We're on our third month of the new schedule and Percy's doing wonderful.

I have 6 cats and none of them like this food. And the food is too large, it almost looks like dog food its so big.

Great product, but it was packed along with 3 cases of canned food and the bag was split open and spread all over the box.

Have two older cats and have tried various dry foods. They seem to prefer this one so I will go with their recommendation.

  • all the cats like this

    By on

This is the one dry foods that all my cats (5) like Have tried many different brands mid-price range to pricey and this brand/flavor seems to be the overall winner. Will insert that my very wise vet keeps telling me cats are much healthier on wet canned food only and I need to ditch the dry completely. Flavor enhancers are added to all dry food so they can tend to overeat, among other reasons such as hard on their kidneys, .... Have stopped the big bowl free for all and now only put a palm full out when one of them dances around the spot it used to be. A palm full a couple times a day is much better than grazing all day.
