  • My cats like these

    By on

I'm not sure if packaging has changed or I received the wrong product, however mine are in a hard plastic vitamin bottle not a pouch. Packaging aside, these "chews" are not actually soft. I could not break them up by hand and the size was to large to feed whole. After slicing these up with a kitchen knife my cats (2 are 15 yrs old, 1 is 10 and the other is about 8 months) loved them. They quickly devoured them like a treat and looked for seconds. They seem to be working fine as none of them have been throwing up hairballs.

  • First time cat owner

    By on

My rescued cat was having skin problems (itching & thinning hair) and he threw up a hair ball for the first time (I almost threw up!). So I did my research and needed something for both. This is the first product I've tested out and so far so good. The 30count we have only has about 6 left. This isn't really as hard as the other reviews make it seem like. My cat's dry food is harder than this. But they are quite bigger than regular treats. The first couple of times he would bite it into smaller pieces and would eat it in crumbles. But now he just takes the whole thing in his mouth. He's only 9months with great teeth though. I'm definitely buying the next one in bulk.

  • Hard and got thrown up

    By on Top 1000 Contributor

These treats are very hard (not crunchy) and both my cats had difficulties chewing them which resulted in them swallowing pieces too large (or whole), which resulted in them throwing them up! I broke them into smaller pieces and one cat still threw them up. Cats without some or all back teeth could not chew these at all. I don't know how good they are for hairballs because they get thrown up! For the cost and trouble I won't be buying them again. There are better options out there.

  • No hairballs, but too large and difficult to chew

    By on

I bought this hoping for a better solution to hairballs than the nasty hair ball "paw gel" we've been giving our cats. Initially, the chews were gobbled up, albeit with much difficulty, since they are large and somewhat tough. (My cats are older and both are missing some teeth so maybe for younger cats this wouldn't be a problem). I guess they don't like the taste, but every cat is different and some might really like them. So far since using the treats we have been sans hairballs. I have worked around the dislike of taste and chewing difficulties by breaking them up and mixing them with the canned food. It's a bit more work than I was expecting but still so much better than trying to feed a I bought this hoping for a better solution to hairballs than the nasty hair ball "paw gel" we've been giving our cats. But if you go for the largest amount (to save $), make sure you put some in a bag to open daily and then put the majority in a sealed bag, so it doesn't dry out.

  • Rejected by all 4 of my cats

    By on

Even my feral cat who refuses nothing offered to him wouldn't touch these. They're very large treats and have to be broken up. The cat who actually needs them took it in his mouth, bit down and promptly spit them out. Waste of money. The worst.

  • This product works!

    By on

This is the only fur ball product that works with my cat! My cat used to throw up on a daily basis. My carpet required regular carpet cleaning! I tried many products. Meanwhile, my cat kept having hair balls. Vermont Hair Ball Chews has totally eleminated the problem. After this huge success, my local pet store quit selling them. I was thrilled to find the product on line at Chewy!

  • Not for older cats with dental problems.

    By on

These were just too hard for our cat to be able to chew them. Tried breaking up & putting in with other food, but he must not care for the flavor either as he figures out how to eat around them.

  • Hairball Remedy Failed

    By on

Always willing to try something new; this was a total failure. Smell was extremely strong. The cats (2) wouldnt get near it. It's also very pricey. If anyone wants to try it, I have a full bag.

  • ABSOLUTELY THE BEST with 10 STARS!--Cat Acne Remedy as well!!

Our adult cat has hairball issues. My research found out that most of the other hairball medicines use mineral oil to lubricate the intestines so that cats pass the hair. Problem is that it blocks other nutrients to be absorbed into the body.
