  • Cat Sometimes Eats Them in Pieces with Lots of Coaxing, but Won't Eat with Food.

    By on

My cat, Peanut, has had upper respiratory issues since I picked him up from the shelter about a year and a half ago. He's been on medication from the vet before in the past, but it didn't fix the issue. He sneezes a lot, everyday. I had read about these online, and discovered them for a great price on Chewy.com, so I ordered two. The pieces are kind of big, so one piece has to be broken into three for him to even attempt to eat them. He will sometimes eat them like a treat with a lot of coaxing, but I've also tried breaking them up on top of his food, but he just pushes them out of the way and they're usually the only thing left in the bowl. I'm not quite sure how well these work, given the severity of his issue, but he doesn't seem to like the taste or perhaps the smell, so he doesn't take the amount he needs as often as he should. I still haven't opened the second pack, and I made the order about six months ago. … more

  • Great for seasonal allergy help

    By on

My two Sphynx boys have fall and spring pollen allergies. They eat one of these per day, per cat (each cat is 8lbs). Its way easier than the L-Lysine powders on the market. I notice a drastic improvement when they take these. Their only symptom, runny eyes, stops completely. These were recommended by our vet, and I cant praise them enough. During the summer and winter they still take them, but only every other day. I recommend anyone who has a kitty with allergies to talk to their vet about these!

  • finicky cat

the first chew I gave my cat, he ate right down. But I cannot get him to eat any more. I even went so far as to remove them from the resealable bag they came in, and put in an empty treat jar( I guess I thought maybe he could read the label, haha) didn't work, so even though the price was great, it isn't if I can't get him to eat it.

  • Neither of my cats will eat these

Our vet said our cats both need lysine and one needs it more than the other. I bought these in hopes of giving it as a treat. They sniffed & walked away. I tried breaking it up...that didn't help. I then tried adding it in little chunks to food and my male cat who needs it the most, ate around the chunks. I then tried pulverizing it with and adding it to their food. If I do not add a whole treat I can get by with doing that but I have to feed him more often that way. He has an eye infection that has not responded to three weeks of two types of antibiotics so the vets have decided it is viral and recommended 500 mg to 1000 mg of lysine daily, then a maintenance of 250 mg of lysine. • Such a picky cat -- finally likes it

    By on

I bought 3 different Lysine treats and my kitty likes these -- coincidentally, the cheapest and easiest to find, too! I have to mix it in with other food or put it in a saucer with a bit of water and dried cat food to make it "soup" -- but this is SOOO much better than chasing kitty around trying to force that paste in his mouth.

  • easy to use, easy to feed

when it is hard to give your cat medicine, it is nice to have something you can mix with their food. Then know you are giving your cat what he/she needs.

  • Not Kitten Approved

    By on

Over the course of a month I've placed multiple orders that included different l-lysine chews to supplement an l-lysine powder that I give to one of my year-old cats. Pet Naturals was the first purchase based on the reviews. Neither of my 2 kittens would eat these. They smelled the chew for a few seconds and then walked away. I've not had this problem with l-lysine powder at all. In a subsequent order I tried the Tomlyn chews. While they seemed to be interested in the scent of the Tomlyn much more, neither would eat them either. For these reasons I have given the Tomlyn a 2 and Pet Naturals a 1 rating.
