Rated 5 out of 5 by Star Moist with chicken broth, smells good, kitties love it!
When you open a can of the chicken/wheat germ, you will see there is about 1 tbsp of broth that the wetfood sits in. It is always moist and it is a favorite of all of my cats over the years. I can hear them smacking their lips as they eat.
PetGuard is the only food that I have fed my kitties for 25+ years. In the late 1980s, my 14 1/2-year-old cat, was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. That's when I learned about byproducts and bad additives and after reading a book called "The Natural Cat", I switched her to PetGuard... She lived to almost 19 years. I feed my furry babies (seniors now) - canned food 2x a day - the dry Cat & Kitten food as treats. My senior kitties are healthy, with beautiful fur, clear eyes and playful. Excellent product!

I had bought PetGuard dry food for my cats specifically because it is one of the few foods that does not contain CARAGEENAN, which is known to cause intestinal cancer in animals and humans. My cats loved it. Their coats became glossier than I could have imagined and their activity levels were increased.
My vet requested that I place one of my cats on wet food due to an accident that required the removal of his left eye. Again, they were over the moon for the PetGuard Chicken.
I really appreciated that, for the first time in my life, I wasn't made ill by the smell of the wet food.
I would and have recommended both of PetGuard foods to friends and will continue to do so.

Why feed your cat something that's just ok when you can get better... I had high hopes for this food because my little guy can't eat rice...it gives him chin acne. Granted the acne did clear up, which is why I'd recommend it :) But this food is just so NOT meaty, and very dry. It smells like, feels like and looks like some kind of horse porridge. It is gritty and smells like hay. I image it would be like me having a steak with a bowl of pumkin seeds instead of roasted potatoes. I love wheatgerm but I can understand why my guys will eat a bit when it's fresh but then leave the rest for the flies...

21 year old cat was having trouble eating anything. I tried mixing Chicken and wheat germ Petguard with hot water to an "applesauce" consistency and she loves it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Ajani First time trying it and they really liked it.
My cats enjoyed the Chicken & Wheat Germ flavor so that is a step in the right direction. It will take a week or so before I can tell if it's good for them. I've tried other products that exacerbated my one cat's kidney problems. I haven't had any problems with PetGuard products so far but I'm always cautious when using a new product or a new flavor.

Been feeding this brand to our cats for many years. They have been very healthy, not overweight, and our last cat lived to 22. Current kitties are 13-1/2 & going strong!

Rated 3 out of 5 by fourcatshouse My cats don't like this flavor as well
I really like being able to have my cat food delivered. I can't find the better brands in the stores in my area so this way my cats can eat healthy and it saves me a lot of trouble. This was their least favorite flavor among the kinds we have tried, however.

My cats eat it. They don't ignore it. Nothing left over. And my cats can be fussy.
