  • WOULD NOT RECOMMEND

I got two of these for when I was going camping for a week out of state. They were easy to set, however...I am glad I had someone check on the cats mid way through me being gone. They were able to rock the food hopper on top off the threads and get the food out and gorge themselves sick. The second container was almost knocked off too, but not quite. Also, I think this is better used for bigger food for dogs, not cat food, because no matter how much I messed with it, it would not measure out the food properly according to what it was set for. I was very disappointed with the two of these, however CHEWY was wonderful in helping me return them.

  • Worked for a while then went totally crazy

    By on

We had this feeder for about a year before it stopped working. The company replaced it under warranty. Good job company. The replacement worked fine for about 3 years and then started feeding the cat every 3 minutes. He was in heaven, we were not. For what this thing costs, we really hoped for more than 3 years of service, especially after the first one broke before a year. When it worked, it worked great. The fact that you can't feed less than a quarter cup was frustrating as our cat required a third of that each feeding. We ended up modifying the measuring wheel with plastic and string so it would feed less than the minimum amount. Feeding amounts are not consistent. We ended up modifying the measuring wheel with plastic and string so it would feed less than the minimum amount. Feeding amounts are not consistent. Sometimes a ton of food comes out, sometimes a few pieces. I did a lot of testing and found that in 3 scheduled feedings, the total combined amount of food was consistent, so in a 24-hour period our cat was getting the same amount, it just wasn't necessarily spread out evenly over each feeding. Overall, I would say it's a 50/50 gamble if it will work properly and have any longevity. When it works, it's good. But quality control doesn't seem to be consistent. … more

  • Keeps my fat cat from over eating

    By on

Some of the comments here show that a really smart cat can figure out how the feeder works and bypass the program. Fortunately for me my fat cat isn't that smart so she has not figured out how to do that. Also the lid can be "locked" on, so it cannot be pushed or shaken off. There are instructions embossed on the top with an arrow showing the directions to lock or unlock it. These are not easy to see, but once you know they are there, it makes locking the lid much easier. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because it is a little tricky to use and takes some practice to get the lid on right, and it requires four D cell batteries which are not easy to find in stores these days.

  • Tray won't stay in

    By on

My cats easily knock the tray away from the device at every single feeding so the food falls to the bare floor. I've tried everything to get the tray to stay put with no success. Cats have also easily knocked the whole device over, knocking the lid off so the food spills everywhere

  • Far from perfect

    By on

There are so many problems. The cover doesn't fit easily on top of the reservoir bowl. The power switch is hard to locate and under the unit, making it difficult to turn off and on. The display has a glossy hard to read display that isn't backlit. If the display and controls were on an angle it would be easier to see/use. Taping any part of the unit will cause more food to fall. Floor vibrations will cause more food to fall. It dispenses 1/4 cup increments, our cat food recommended 1/3 cup per weight of cat. Overall I am very disappointed with this purchase, the food falling on the slightest vibration isn't good. The rest of the problems I could forgive.

  • Dispenses in its own at non programmed times

    By on

Set up to dispense twice a day however if it gets bumped it dispenses and it will also dispense 10 to 15 bits through out the day at random times. Had to remove from area where it was as my pup was eating everything dispensed.

  • says new and improved - DON'T BUY THIS!

    By on

silly me saw LeBistro - I was replacing an 8 year old Lebistro and figured it was a sure bet for reliability - NOT - unequal amounts of food dispensed - dispensed food when it felt like it - one day 6 times! FOLKS AT CHEWY ARE AWESOME AND TOOK CARE OF ME!! I am now looking at feeder reviews and not looking back at Lebistro

  • Inconsistent and disappointing

    By on

I bought this in May and it worked well for two months. Now the dispensing is inconsistent and unreliable. It skips meals and, if it does dispense, it can be the full amount or barely a quarter of it. I'm truly disappointed and should have listened to the bad reviews. I should add that I have not changed the food and have kept the feeder clean and in good condition. Time for a different brand...

  • Doesn't feed full amt. cats go hungry

    By on

This doesn't always drop my cats smaller kibble. Idk if it's because it isn't as heavy as the bigger dog kibble, but I have to set it to a full cup if I want to make sure my cats get a full 3/4 cup every time cause it doesn't rotate enough to get that last 1/4 to drop. I can shake the unit and it will finally drop out. But my boys go hungry and then when that last 1/4 of the full cup does fall, they get over fed. I've had a feeder that has a solid 1/4 cup thing that rotated however many times you tell it to and would give the right amount every time, but it got lost in a move. Also, there's a bunch of food that falls into cracks and ends up either inside the base and you can't even shake it out This doesn't always drop my cats smaller kibble. • Excellent feeder

    By on

We have tried a few feeders and this one is excellent. We can leave our outdoor cats (possums and raccoons) and not have to worry about their food. Our friends stop and check on them but don't have to feed. Finally peace of mind.
