Rated 4 out of 5 by Great, but not perfect I first purchased this fountain in stainless steel because I wanted something lightweight and unbreakable. However, that version hummed/buzzed no matter what adjustments I tried to make to it. I returned it and got this version instead. I don't know what the difference could be, but the ceramic fountain does not make any noise as long as I keep the water level even with the top of the bowl. The only sound I hear now is bubbling water. I previously owned the Big Max fountain and learned a few things. You have to take the pump apart and clean it. I recommend using vinegar and rinsing well. After I clean everything and put it back together, I fill it with water and let it set on the counter and let the water cycle for a bit, then dump it. Then, I refill it. You have to keep the water level up for it to stay quiet. Sometimes if the clam shell that the pump is in has a gap, it will cause the pump to be noisy. Overall, I'm happy with this fountain since my cats do drink from it. I just wish I could have the stainless steel version because the ceramic is heavy and I'm afraid I will break it. Rated 4 out of 5 by Lovely and heavy ceramic fountain Our cat took right to this fountain! She loves moving her water bowl all around the kitchen so we thought she might like a fountain. We've tried a few others that were plastic and she would just push them around, tip them over, and pull on them until they unplugged. Thankfully the pioneer pet fountain is heavy ceramic and she can't move it!! It's been great for us, our cat loves drinking from it and there aren't puddles all around the kitchen anymore. Would've given five stars if it was slightly easier to clean. I wish the cord was more easily detachable from the bowl. But it's a great product, nice to look at and the sound is calming for us all. Rated 5 out of 5 by Soothing sound We love this fountain! Our 4 year old cat wasn't too sure of it at first but I was able to get him to drink out of the side stream and now he's been drinking from the top but either way we're happy he's using it. Very solid but easy to clean & reassemble. January 11, 2017
Rated 5 out of 5 by Ceramic water fountain This is a great, easy to maintain product. My previous waterers for my kitties were plastic and never seemed to be as clean as I would like. They both love to drink from the flowing water! January 10, 2017
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great fountain for drinking! For swimming... not so great. The cats couldn't wait for me to set up their new fountains... they even helped! They love to see a new Chewy box appear. This was easy to set up and worked well... as a drinking fountain. Until I left the room. Somehow the baby cats got the idea it would also work as a wading, swimming, pouncing pool. Um. Yeah. It doesn't! So, the little monsters apparently decided to make more room to play in the water by dismantling the fountain. Seriously... the bowl was empty. Water everywhere. Pump hanging out one side; ceramic cover halfway across the room; filter under the sofa. Strike one... Moved the fountain and tried to weight the cover a bit. Strike two... gave it one more try... Strike three... On the third morning of chaos cleanup from the night before, the fountain found a new home on the top shelf of the closet... We'll try again in a few months. The ceramic and the pump survived, so I would say they are well made and sturdy. The little foam filter piece would probably still work even though half of it was eaten. As usual, Chewy service was great. This is a nice, quiet fountain. The little ones just weren't ready for it yet! November 14, 2016

Rated 5 out of 5 by FINALLY found a quality pet fountain! I have thrown so much $ down on other brands of pet fountains. I LOVE this fountain, as does my cat. She took to it immediately and loves to pick different areas to satisy her thirst. The bubbling fountain at the top is perfect, as is the "water slide" coing from the fountain. I see her drinking at that a lot! Then there is the calmer pool at the bottom. This she likes to dip her paw into, when being playful, and drinks from that part as well. The cleaning of the fountain is amazingly simple, love that!! My whole family loves the soothing bubbling sound. So gentle and relaxing I highly reccomend this product! December 4, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by fountain for cat The fountain itself seems to be well designed, attractive and of a nice heavy ceramic like that in most toilet bowls. The motor is very quiet and has the option of several settings to control water flow. It is easy to clean, as well. Since we have only had it for a couple of weeks I cannot speak to longevity, but I hope it will last a very long time and that the Cat decides he will use it more. I would probably give the fountain a much higher rating......if the cat would indicate he is using it. He is curious about it, sniffing and putting a paw into the water, but so far has not seemed to be drinking much. I got the fountain as insurance that he is taking in enough water but since I feed him primarily canned food and find that his litter box shows he is urinating a quite a bit, perhaps he is getting enough water without drinking much. Since I am concerned about struvites forming, I will continue to run the fountain and hope he uses it supplementally. September 4, 2014
