After my vet recommended we keep our kitties on a pro-biotic, I began looking into my options. First, I'd like to say, I already had some from previous fosters last summer. It was from PetAg and is called BeneBac. The vet personally suggested this Purina FortiFlora, I was already hesitant just because it is made by Purina. If you look at the ingredients, the very first one is "animal digest". Some folks may not be too concerned with that ingredient, but I am. These four kitties all came from rough beginnings and are now all healthy, happy, and doing great. So I cannot in good conscience use this product as a topper when their food doesn't have any grains/byproduct/animal digest. • Senior cat loves the taste!

    By on

Have an 18 year old cat that thinks this stuff is great for flavoring. He does not have loose bowels but I read that other cats thought this was tasty and he agrees. He eats more which is great as he is a little thin. Worth the price to have him eat more and seems to love it!

  • Cat won't eat wet food with it

After Ziwipeak changed their wet canned food formula and my cat no longer refused to eat the new formula I started experimenting with many other wet canned food and have not had much success, so have been sticking to just freeze dried raw food and dry kibble. I read an article stating that to try Fortiflora because it tastes similar to what is coated on the outside of dry kibble, making it enticing to cats and that they would be willing to eat wet canned food with it that normally picky cats would not touch. Well, the first time, I put it in the original Ziwipeak canned wet food and she ate it but the next time I put it in new one and she refused to try it and from then on, she still won't eat any canned wet food even if I put a little bit of the probiotics in it - so it's been a waste of money because she won't eat the wet canned food with it even the original wet food anymore if it's in there. I can't speak on the effectiveness of the probiotics since that was not the purpose I bought it for. … more

  • Controlling IBS

    By on

No one likes to deal with a cat that has chronic IBS. Because we love them we will try anything we can to make the situation better. FortiFlora along with a good Purina Pro Plan diet has made an enormous improvement in my cats IBS. He no longer has diarrhea all the time and in general he is feeling a lot better. I can actually see a positive change in his behaviour. I am delighted with FortiFlora and highly recommend it if you have an IBS issue that has otherwise gone unresolved. I noticed a difference in three days. In three weeks his diarrhea was completely gone.

  • making a difference

    By on

I have a younger cat that has always had trouble with diarrhea. Been to the vet twice, been wormed and checked for parasites or a bacterial infection. They say no, but I still had the problem. Found this and have been adding to wet food for almost 2 months and her diarrhea problem is much better. Plan to keep using this until it is no longer a problem. May be a few months, but at least it is helping. Also my cat will eat this dry by itself... she will lick it off a saucer. So, all in all, great product.

  • FortiFlora for cats - works very nicely

    By on

I've been using this product for some time. I was amazed at the price difference between the vet and Chewy.com. I am very pleased with this probiotic and how it is helping my one elderly cat.

  • A bit of Magic

    By on

Our dearly loved cat developed colitis at age 3. FortiFlora, in combination with a prescription diet, has made a world of difference in her health. We attempted to omit or at least decrease the FortiFlora, but her symptoms quickly recurred. Now five, she has been on a maintenance dose for 2 years. She seems to truly enjoy the taste and is thriving. One packet daily, easily dispensed right onto food, clearly a wonderful product.

I bought this item for my elderly cat because he has problems with hairballs I give him hairball medicine but felt like the probiotic would help him it came with no instructions so I don't recommend this unless you're willing to research how to use it

  • Restores gut balance

    By on

My cat was on very strong antibiotics for two months after being mauled by a dog. The abx destroyed his gut bacteria and he was having diarrhea. The prescription liquid provided by my vet didn't help and was nearly impossible to administer. My cat loves the taste of FortiFlora and eats it sprinkled on top of his canned food. It restored normal bowel movement within a week. Bonus: my other cats like it as well as a food topper when they're being picky about eating.

My two furry fussy cats eat my pumpkin/cat food mixture right away. Better still it has calmed my Persian cat's sfomache so no more throw up/diarrhea episodes. Very happy owner.
