Description

For cats with kidney problems, Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Diets NF Kidney Function Feline Formula offers balanced nutrition to help support the kidneys. NF is formulated with low sodium, phosphorus and protein to help reduce the workload on the kidneys and help cats with kidney problems feel better. It offers dietary benefits that provide optimal nutrition while meeting your adult cat's special needs.

Key Benefits

  • Kidney disease can occur in cats of all ages, but it normally appears in that of older pets. It can't be cured, but with proper treatment and dietary management you can help make your cat much more comfortable.
  • Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Diets NF has been specifically formulated to minimize the sign of kidney failure and help slow the progression of the disease.
  • Restricted amounts of high-quality protein, low phosphorus levels, and a reduction in sodium all help reduce the workload on the kidneys. Added B-complex vitamins help to protect the body and break down nutrients.
  • Designed for cats with chronic renal failure, hepatic disease associated with encephalopathy, or any condition that benefits from restricted sodium levels.
  • Made in the USA!

My 12 yr. old black cat has early stage CKD and stopped eating the Royal Canin even when mixing it with his regular dry Purina One. I asked my Vet to write me an RX for this kidney diet since he likes Purina and had eaten the regular Pro Plan. He really likes it and I hardly have to mix any regular dry food in to trick him. He seems to feel a lot better too as his kidneys dont have to work so hard to process the kidney diet. I just snapped a photo of my RX on my tablet and emailed it to Chewey. They also are happy to call your Vet for approval. Very easy and his food arrived very quickly.

  • Wish they gave samples!

My cat will not eat the Purina Pro Plan. Not a reflection on the food though, as this is the 3rd brand of kidney diet cat food we have tried and she has not eaten any of them. At least with the other two brands I was able to obtain sample bags before having to send the $30+ dollars - not the case with Purina.

  • This food works does work

I have two senior cats and one has elevated kidney levels. I usually feed Royal Canin but they did not care for that kidney variety. The vet suggested I try her second favorite brand and they love it. I feed a mix of this and the Royal Canin senior cat food for both of my cats. The kidney levels for one cat has been the same for over a year, I really believe this food is contributing to that. It may be a bit pricey, but it is worth every penny. Fast shipping.

  • Great fd, not available locally

Chewy went so far as apply, sight unseen, a $6 food check from Purina Pro Club, to which I belong, being caretaker to six cats, trusting me to mail it in to the Dania Beach address. Every $6 check helps me w/my kitty expenses, which can get high as none of my group are young anymore. I was so pleased Chewy would do this for me! All my cats like Purina NF; they have always done well on Purina. Because two of them now have CKD, it was easiest to just switch everyone over from Purina Pro Plan Weight Mgt, which is a very high protein fd and not designed for compromised kidneys. NF seems to be adequately satisfying everyone's hunger and no one is pigging out. • Both a Kidney Impaired Cat and His "Normal" Buddy Live on It

Both cats find this as appetizing as the dry food they had before one cat developed protein clearance problems. They are inseparable, so feeding the cat with renal issues separately from his best friend was impractical. Both thrive on it.

  • Great stuff!

My cat has polycystic kidney disease. So my vet put her on a kidney diet. We started on KD, but she turned her nose up on it and wouldn't eat it. The vet suggested this diet. So I bought it and was amazed that she immediately started eating it. She's really picky and a bit like goldilocks in that she always wants what my other cats are eating. But if I keep putting the NF in front of her nose she eats it fine. That is no criticism of the NF, just indicative of her quirks! So far the NF is being eaten well! Fingers crossed that it stays that way!

  • My cat's favorite prescription kidney function dry food

    By on

I have tried a bunch of prescription foods for my cat's kidney problems. Purina Pro Plan NF is the dry food that he seems to like the best (he eats more of it and his stomach tolerates it better than the others). He has been eating this food for over a year and his blood work continues to indicate that his diet is currently sufficient intervention for the management of his kidney problems.

  • My cats love it!

When one of my elderly cats developed renal failure I had to find something that they would both eat. They were raised on kibble, and my vet gave me samples of three different kinds of low phosphate kibble. The cats chose this one! I feed them mostly wet food, also low phosphate, but they still love to nibble the Purina kibble. It even works as a snack.
