Description

For cats with kidney problems, Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Diets NF Kidney Function Feline Formula offers balanced nutrition to help support the kidneys. NF is formulated with low sodium, phosphorus and protein to help reduce the workload on the kidneys and help cats with kidney problems feel better. It offers dietary benefits that provide optimal nutrition while meeting your adult cat's special needs.

Key Benefits

  • Kidney disease can occur in cats of all ages, but it normally appears in that of older pets. It can't be cured, but with proper treatment and dietary management you can help make your cat much more comfortable.
  • Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Diets NF has been specifically formulated to minimize the sign of kidney failure and help slow the progression of the disease.
  • Restricted amounts of high-quality protein, low phosphorus levels, and a reduction in sodium all help reduce the workload on the kidneys. Added B-complex vitamins help to protect the body and break down nutrients.
  • Designed for cats with chronic renal failure, hepatic disease associated with encephalopathy, or any condition that benefits from restricted sodium levels.
  • Made in the USA!

Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Diets NF Kidney Function Formula Dry Cat Food is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 66.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great stuff! My cat has polycystic kidney disease. So my vet put her on a kidney diet. We started on KD, but she turned her nose up on it and wouldn't eat it. The vet suggested this diet. So I bought it and was amazed that she immediately started eating it. She's really picky and a bit like goldilocks in that she always wants what my other cats are eating. But if I keep putting the NF in front of her nose she eats it fine. That is no criticism of the NF, just indicative of her quirks! So far the NF is being eaten well! Fingers crossed that it stays that way!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tasty! My four finicky cats have been in transition to a healthier food for years. They or some of them might like it for a day or two, but then reject it. We finally ended up with a rabbit diet which seemed to please everyone until now. One of my lovelies has been diagnosed with kidney disease. Since all four could benefit from a NF kidney diet, the vet recommended switching all four to the diet to make it easier. Transition could not have been better! They love it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My cat's favorite prescription kidney function dry food I have tried a bunch of prescription foods for my cat's kidney problems. Purina Pro Plan NF is the dry food that he seems to like the best (he eats more of it and his stomach tolerates it better than the others). He has been eating this food for over a year and his blood work continues to indicate that his diet is currently sufficient intervention for the management of his kidney problems.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good kidney food for cats. Mocha likes this food and his early kidney disease is under control using it along with the NF wet food. He always eats!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cat Won't Eat It Other cats might like it, but my cat won't touch it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My cat enjoys this precription food much more than other brands. Our 11 year old cat has been on a renal prescription diet for 15 months and is doing well. She has been fed mainly wet food as this gets more fluid into her. However, having eaten dry food all her life, she obviously missed the crunch of the pellets. We had been giving her a rival brand of "renal" pellets all along, but she alwats tried to eat the other cats' normal pellets instead. This time I decided to try the Purina version, and it seems much more to her liking. Cats are contrary creatures and when you change their diet, in addition to the poor appetite that goes with renal insufficiency, it can become a frustrating process to get them to eat enough. My advice to anyone newly on this chronic illness hamster-wheel, is to keep trying different brands and combinations of presription food They are all designed to achieve the same effect, so it boils down to what you can entice your particular kitty to eat.
