On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the old diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the old diet with 75% of the new diet. On the 7th day, you can feed the new food exclusively. This allows your pet’s digestive system to smoothly adapt to the new food.

Why Pure Breed Cats Need Tailored Nutrition

Even though pedigree cats are usually kept indoors, they may have breed-specific needs that go beyond the needs of other indoor cats. It's important to address those needs with specialized nutrition. When choosing a formula, keep in mind the unique characteristics of your breed, including:

Face and Jaw: Pure breed cats come in many different jaw shapes and sizes. Some breeds have broad jaws (like Ragdolls) while others have large, square-shaped jaws (like Maine Coons) or flat, short jaws (like Persians). The jaw type and even biting patterns can affect how a breed picks up kibble.

Skin Types: Not all cat breeds have the same body type. Some have long and muscular physiques while others have imposing statures that can put strain on joints. Precise levels of key nutrients help support a breed's unique needs for their body type.

Distinctive Coats: There's more to a coat than meets the eye. From different hair lengths to undercoats, each pure breed cat has a unique coat with unique needs.

Breed Specific Formulas

Every cat is unique - especially pure breed cats. After years of research and partnering with a network of veterinarians and breeders, Royal Canin has developed a line of tailor-made formulas to suit the needs of pure breed cats perfectly.

Formulated for Persians

Royal Canin's Persian Dry Cat Food is designed for Persian cats over 12 months old.

Special long hair: A long, luxurious coat with a dense undercoat is the hallmark of Persian cats. This formula contains nutrients to help support the skin's role as a barrier and maintain skin and coat health. It's also enriched with Omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA) and Omega-6 fatty acids.

Hairball reduction: Due to the length and density of their coat, Persian cats routinely swallow a large quantity of hair during grooming. Persian Dry Cat Food contains fibers which help stimulate intestinal transit and naturally limit hairball formation.

Digestive health: Persian Dry Cat Food supports digestive health, taking into account Persians' digestive sensitivity, with highly digestible proteins, prebiotics and fibers to maintain balance in the intestinal flora.

Exclusive Kibble

Persian Dry Cat Food features an almond-shaped kibble specially designed to make it easier for Persian cats to grasp with the underside of their tongue.

Why Royal Canin?

Over time, Royal Canin has accumulated vast knowledge about cats and dogs that only extensive research, scientific study and tireless talks with pet professionals, veterinarians and owners can provide. That knowledge led them to develop precise nutrition for cats and dogs. Each Royal Canin formula is tailored to pets' size, age, lifestyle and breed and contains more than 50 perfectly balanced nutrients for the most effective diet possible.

Their focus on science puts pets at the heart of the formulation process, choosing only ingredients that optimize the food's nutritional content. Royal Canin also continues to invest heavily in new technology to ensure their quality and food safety systems remain state-of-the-art, so pets can continue to benefit from the latest in food health and nutrition.

  • Love this food!

    By on

This feed is higher in fiber than what we had been feeding. We had an issue with our cats bum. We switched to this feed and her poop is so much healthier. The fiber has helped her body naturally express her anal gland and kept her bum clean. Her overall health seems to improved and she has a better personality about her. I think she feels better. Her coat is also amazing. She loves the shape of this food and eats it very well. I have that cat that normally doesn't eat the morsels if they are broken. She eats all this food and leaves nothing.

  • Their Very Favorite

    By on

We have 3 Dearheart Persians and this is their absolute favorite dry food. Even though they do not have the flat Persian face they still do not like to stick their face into the bowl, so they fish individual pieces out and eat them off the mat. The oval shape is easy for them to pick up, and we do not have troubles with throw-up later. Just be sure to have plenty of fresh water always available for them!

Started feeding my Exotic Shorthair this food when she turned a year old. I also feed it to my Ragdoll. They both love it and the small kibble makes it easy for my Exotic to eat. No digestion or hairball issues thus far. As always, Chewy has great service and fast shipping.

  • It works for hairballs!

    By on

My cats aren't Persians but my short hair kitties had hairball issues. After several daily "gifts", the hairballs are now gone. I haven't seen any evidence in over a week. Yay!

  • Cats love it

Have 3 indoor cats.. none are Persian. Just basic shelter kitties. One kitty Mia is so fussy about food and it was getting difficult to find something she would eat.. she turned up her nose at every food I tried.. bought a bag of this and they ALL love it. Being Royal Canin I am assured she is getting the proper nutrition.

This is the only dry food my Himmie will eat. He definitely has an easier time getting them into his mouth and seems to really enjoy them. Glad Chewy stocks them. They offer great customer service.

  • BEST cat food for Persian cats EVER!

    By on

My deceased Mother fed her Himalayan this cat food for many years. No dental issues EVER! Her cat is now 17 ½ yrs old, acts like a kitten, and still has not required any dental cleanings or dental work since I took over her care. The vet believes her good dentition is due to the cat food and I totally agree!

My Himalayan and Ragdoll both love this food . I tried the Ragdoll royal canin and they didn't care for it. The food is bigger and harder for them to chew.
