Alpha-casozepine is an amino acid chain derived from milk shown to have calming effects. L-tryptophan  is a more commonly known amino acid that also has calming effects. In addition, the formulas include Nicotinamide, also known as Vitamin B3. Nicotinamide creates a calming effect within the central nervous system.

Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Calm Formula Dry Cat Food is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 61.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great idea but ingredients are low quality and the price is high My vet who specializes in felines recommended this food. So I bought a bag. I had been feeding Orijen so I was used to spending a good amount on food but this Royal Canin food was nearly twice the cost. I would have gladly spent the money if it worked. I didn't notice any difference and when I checked the ingredients I saw byproduct meal as the number one ingredient followed by corn, rice, and wheat. Cats don't need all those grains so I am disgusted to have spent all that money on a food that is not that nutritious and doesn't work. My cats did love the taste though. Probably because it is like eating junk food. I will go back to Orijen.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The reviews are true! My cat has been suffering from major behavioral issues for almost a year now. My new vet suggested this food. I was skeptical but within just a week of mixing it in with my cat's old kibble she is already starting to act like her old self. I could not be happier! Worth the $$$

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent, costly but GOOD I initially was given this food because my cat was suffering from excessive allergies (itching/scratching/losing hair on paws) and a jealous attitude towards a homeless cat that I feed outside the house. The vet recommended that I change my ways and feed the stray cat at the side of the house and not right out front. Well, I did that and I also started using the calm food as recommended. My cat stopped the itching within 3 days of only feeding him calm. My cat liked this food from the start, I did not have to mix it with his old dry food. It also does not have a strong order as the N/D Royal Canin food does. The only thing is sometimes my cat eats fast and throws up so I just want to warn you if your cat does that, give him/her smaller portions instead of larger portions. I will continue to buy this food until I can find a good replacement at a cheaper price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wiley's favorite! Wiley (16 yo) has been urinating outside the litter box and "Calm" helps him behave! "Calm" is part of a number of things I'm doing to encourage him to use the litter box. Wiley is extremely thin and is eating the "Calm" very well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cat 360 This food made a total difference in my cat. He's 10+ years old and he'd gotten completely finicky about any food & was skinny/skranny. Finally found something he likes & will eat...suggested by my vet. So grateful we tried it!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Still in the trial stage, mixing with former food, but hopeful. Not totally on this food as yet, but already I can see an improvement in my cat's compulsive grooming, excessive shedding, and she seems a little less timid and Jumpy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Royal canin calm cat food My cat loves this food. Not sure if she's been on it long enough to see the affects of its calming properties.
