Description

Most pets have a small frame as compared to a human, and just a few extra pounds can have a dramatic effect on their life expectancy. Also, the extra weight can lead to other serious problems such as diabetes, heart disease, joint problems, skin irritations, and urinary tract disorders. A properly balanced, calorie controlled diet is essential for safe, efficient weight loss. Simply feeding less of the current diet may not provide enough essential nutrients, and may lead to deficiencies. An effective calorie restrictive diet should be low in fat, nutrient-rich, palatable, calorie restricted, and should satisfy your pet’s appetite

Key Benefits

  • Feline Calorie Control is a high protein dry food diet that has been formulated specially for overweight or obese adult cats
  • Calories are restricted while essential nutrients are increased relative to energy to ensure nutrient requirements are met
  • A high protein content helps maintain muscle mass during a weight loss program.
  • Contains added glucosamine and chondroitin to help support healthy bones and joints placed under stress by excess body weight
  • Contains eicosapentaenoic and docosahexaenoic acids which are long chain omega-3 fatty acids that promote a healthy skin and coat

Note: Royal Canin Veterinary Diets require a veterinary prescription. This product will not be shipped until a copy of a valid prescription authorization is faxed to 1-800-619-7973 or e-mailed to rx@chewy.com.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from She likes it! Usually when a veterinarian has recommended special diet control for felines, my cat usually winds up passing the bowl without a sniff, but my Mitzi has been on this Royal Canin calorie control for 2 years and it is the only dry food brand she consumes, and continues to eat it. She also uses wet canned food, but I am happy to say this brand is a winner in this household.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Both cats seem to like it very much. Only one cat needs the diet dry food but both cats like it and so are feeding it to both. I supplement it with other food for the cat that does not need to control its diet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My cat loves this new food This weight loss food was recommended by my vet to help my cat lose a few pounds. He loves it - chowing it down faster than his previous food. After getting approval from the vet, the food came relatively quickly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from iso far so good! I have just recently (about 1 week) begun feeding this to my boys who have been gaining weight on regular RCVD food. Keeping fingers crossed, I am hoping they will take to this low-cal variety. Thus far they have accepted it when mixed with regular, so we shall see as I begin to increase the low-cal amounts. Pray for us!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cat Loves It My cat recently had surgery to extract crystals from her bladder, and the veterinarian prescribed Royal Canin. I was worried that my cat would not like the food because it is healthy/prescription food. However, that was not the case - she loves it!!! It's not only tasty, but it's much better for her, so that makes me happy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally, a low calorie diet that they love! My little Guy requires the RX formula but little Tigra, simply loves to eat it. They love it so much that their weight loss diet is less stressful. The lower calorie formula was just what the doctor ordered. After three months, collectively, they have lost more than 7 pounds.
