Rated 3 out of 5 by Erika By-product meal?
This was recommended by the veterinarian for dental care and my cats like it. But the words byproduct and meal indicate that it is not a pure protein.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Justwendy It's large and requires more chew time
My cats love it. Only concern is the amount of gluten it has. I use it mostly as a treat! They do meow for it!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Marti My cat think these are their treats!
I have a diabetic cat that I use Royal Canin diabetic cat food for as well. Due to the fact she is an older cat I give her a few of these large pieces for her to chew so she can help issues she has with her teeth. Since we started using the dental food her breath is much nicer plus she thinks it is a treat and loves the taste of it. I have tried it on our other cats who are younger and they love the taste as well so it is a big hit in our home.

Rated 5 out of 5 by TonkMom Vet suggested, cat loved.
After a dental procedure my Vet provided a sample of Royal Canin's dental product for my Tonkinese to try. He loves it and the oversized pieces mean he really has to chew it, which helps remove plaque from his teeth.
I use it to augment his other food, so a smaller bag would be a good option but that's the only mild complaint I have.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Esperanza All my cats love it
I'm buying this for the dental benefits - hoping to avoid expensive teeth cleanings for 5 cats. It's too early to tell if it's working, but all five love it. It's too expensive to use as food, so I'm giving each cat a small serving as a bedtime snack - instead of brushing their teeth.

3 of our 4 cats have had significant dental issues and the vet recommended that we start giving them Royal Canin Vet. Diet Dental food to keep their gums and teeth healthy.
Of course, no food, no matter how good, is useful unless the cats eat it! Fortunately, they love it.
We were concerned at first with the size of the pieces, since they're larger than most dry food pieces. However, it's not an issue - the cats have to "work" their teeth and gums to eat it, and I guess that may be the idea.
Note: You must have a prescription from your vet, but it's worth trying.
