  • A real lifesaver

    By on

Our cat, a 14 yo Maine Coon cat, Captain 'Kirk', had a bout of illness two months ago, and, never fully recovered, having lost almost 4 pounds, from a lifetime weight of no less than 16 pounds. He was skin and bones, no muscle, no fat. My husband, who loves Kirk every bit as much as I do, actually suggested that we let his illness run its course. I was not ready to let him go. So, I asked our veterinarian if there were a high calorie food she could recommend. We purchased a case of 24 Recovery, and, Kirk was on it immediately. Normally, he would not eat canned food, only licking the juice, never eating the solid food. Not so with Recovery, he eats all of the food. In the space of 5 days, we have noticed a difference in his strength, and, his body is obviously picking up weight, although we do not have a scale to prove it. Just last week, he was barely able to jump up on our bed, he remained in his favorite sleeping spot nearly all day, getting up only to use the litter box, or, eat small amounts of food, barely enough to keep him alive. Now, the old Kirk is coming back. He is far more active. He needs to have some bad teeth removed, and, we have been concerned about whether he had the strength to tolerate the anesthetic. That is no longer a concern. We have 3 cats: 'Flash' Gordon, another Maine Coon, and, brother to Kirk, and, Savannah, a 3 year old rescued American shorthair 'tuxedo', and, best buddy to Kirk. I will forever be grateful to Royal Canin, for restoring our 'family'. … more

  • Great for both my very elderly Dog & Cat!

My dog Angel is 19 and my cat Sweety is 18. They both have become picky eaters the last year or so and this food has been a lifesaver, for real. I tried every single wet food at the premium pet food store, both ate a bit, never to touch it again. I had a can of of RC Recovery from a few months back and decided to try it, out of desperation. It worked for both of them! I mix in the Hill's I/D for my dog and some Wellness herring for my cat for the last few months. Angel pup has gained a full pound (now 11 lbs) and Sweety cat is about 8 lbs, up a half pound. They look great and are energetic and happy!

  • Fussy dog loves Recovery RS!

This was recommended by my vet. Didn't think my old one would eat it since I have always made her food. She fooled me once again by gobbling up the first portion. Makes me very happy since she needs to gain some weight. Thank you Royal Canin, Thank you Chewey. Great price, too.

My cat has kidney disease and has lost a lot of weight. This food was recommended by my vet. He is very picky, but he absolutely LOVES this food! It's also very creamy and can be syringed easily.

  • Post surgery diet.

    By on

My 14.5 year old dog had emergency surgery, had a splenectomy, and had lost 6 lbs. When he got home he still had a poor appetite, but this food helped him to get the nutrients and gain his strength back. He loved the aroma and taste.

  • My dogs love it.

I have a 14 yr old Boston Terrier and she stopped eating. She has pancreatis problems and had her spleen removed last year.. I was so afraid of losing her and her vet said she needed this food. So I have ordered 24 cans 2 x's now. Also have a 9 yr old Frenchie who suffers seizures and has brain damage and is fairly skinny and won't gain wait, so I put him on it also I will continue ordering as long as I can as the vet is priced too high for me. So I looked to Chewy.com for my purchase.

If you have tiny dogs like I do always keep this on hand for puppies or tiny's who might go off their food. I have chihuahua's and sometimes the tiny's go off their food but RC Recovery is wonderful this a little Karo syrup can mean the difference. Plus Chewy's service is wonderful they even contacted my vet to get approval. thankyou Chewy for always being there for me.

  • Royal Canine Recovery Pate Cat Food

    By on

I have two elder cats who are loosing weight and my vet suggested I feed them this cat food which is pure protein to help them gain weight. I have used this for about a year and both of my cats are holding their own. I strongly recommend this food for finicky eaters because they will love this.

I feed this food to my oldest cat (14 years old) as she is hyperthyroid & this food works well to help her maintain her weight. The food was received 2-3 days after order.

  • More than expected

My vet recommended this food for my cat diagnosed with autoimmune dental disease. She licked it, put on weight, coat looks good and she has even tried her kibble although she may be on this the rest of her life. I know she is getting the nutrition she needs.
