Got this for my 2 cats w/CKD but my gang of 6 cats all love this. Had to change from Purina NF because one of the non-CKD guys got soft poops on NF (perhaps she is having a food sensitivity issue w/fish, as NF contains fish digest and Sr Consult does not--both, like all kidney dry diets, are corn-based). So glad no one has issues w/dry Sr Consult. Everyone finds it as yummy as the canned Sr Consult.

  • Helped my cat

My 12 year old cat had a hospital stay for cystitis. He must be on this food. He's eating it well. Drinking more water too. A nice benefit has been he's moving faster, jumping now when he didn't before. I'm not sure, but maybe it's the glucosamine chondroitin. Whatever the case he's doing very well on this food.

We bought this for our 15 year old cat. He was losing weight due to poor kidney function and vomiting. He likes it and can keep it down. He has stopped losing weight. Our 8 year old cat likes it to.

  • Excellent, well tolerated.

Once my vet determined that my cats needed to change food I was concerned due to potential stomach upset. But, the transition went very smoothly & the food is being tolerated very well

  • My cat cannot tolerate this prescription DRY food.

    By on

My cat has been on the Royal Canin wet food for several years. I discussed with my vet possibly getting the same dry food for him to enjoy crunchy food, which he loves. I received the food and was so excited to give him what I thought would be tolerated by him, only to have his diarrhea start up immediately. I was only giving him approximately 1-2 T once daily. I did not read the ingredients but only assume there is grain or another ingredient in the dry that is not present in the wet. This is no reflection on Chewy just want to put this out for others that might have a similar situation.

Royal Canin is a high quality pet food requiring a prescription. Your veterinarian will determine whether your cat needs it, and your cat will determine whether he/she likes it.

  • My furbabies love it!

I have 4 cats in age from 13-17 of that 2 have hyperthyroidism. Since kidneys fail as a feline gets older wanted to start them on a lower phosphorus lower high quality protein diet to ease the work the kidneys do. My vet gave the prescription for science diet and only 2 like it. My kitties love this with a mix of some senior Iams.

  • Senior cat doing well on this food

    By on

This food was recommended by our veterinarian for Mrs. Lefay, age 16, a Snowshoe Siamese mix, who has kidney disease and a tendency towards urinary tract infections. She likes this food, and has improved after being on it - energy level, coat condition, general appearance.

He' been so this for years, and still likes it! Pricey, but worth it for the health benefits.
