Description

Lower urinary tract disease (LUTD) refers to a group of disorders that commonly leads to irritation of the urinary tract and corresponding undesirable clinical signs. What causes Lower Urinary Tract Disease? In cats, bacterial infections are far less common. Urinary crystals and stones are often linked to this disease. The most common cause of Lower Urinary Tract Disease in cats is idiopathic cystitis. This diet promotes a urinary environment unfavorable to the development of both struvite and calcium oxalate crystals.

Key Benefits

  • Feline Urinary SO is a complete and balanced diet for adult cats to aid in the nutritional management of calcium oxalate and struvite urolithiasis, recommended for cats at risk of developing lower urinary tract disease
  • Provides nutrition that aids in the management of pure struvite uroliths.
  • Royal Canin Urinary SO Index® promotes a urinary environment unfavorable to the development of both struvite and calcium oxalate crystals
  • Increasing the urine volume simultaneously reduces the saturation of urine with calcium oxalate and struvite crystals
  • Relative Super Saturation (RSS) methodology predicts the crystallization potential of urine; RSS is used to develop diets that lower the concentration of ions contributing to struvite and calcium oxalate urolithiasis

  • Great stuff

    By on

We have a cat who was diagnosed with crystal in his urine. We did get it before he had a complete blockage. Our vet recommended this and said that this was the best food for keeping the blockages and crystals. I believed him on this. We had a cat years ago who started using this product at 5 years of age and he lived to a nice old age of 14. The cats seem to love it. Also, the Royal Canin Urinary SO treats are great. Both our cats love them. Plus if you auto fill it, it's cheaper than you can get anywhere else. Our vet was charging $38 for a 6# bag.

  • My cats act starved.

    By on

I'm not sure why, but my cats go nuts when I feed them this food. They act as if they're starving to death. I have to give small amount at a time or they end up making themselves sick by eating too fast! All 4 of my cats have been switched over to this food because one of my cats has chronic bladder issues.

  • Prescription Food

    By on

We started using chewy.com for our German Sheppards dog food which saved us $15 a bag. Our cats have a prescription food and it is $20 cheaper on chewy.com then the vet. Chewy.com took care of everything. I provided the vet info and prescription, they verified the prescription and now we get our cat food autoshipoed at a better price. Chewy has saved us a lot of money taking care of our furry friends, we recommend them to our friends and family all the time.

  • Online order

    By on

I was very pleased with the speed my order came to my home. Also the price for the large bag of prescription cat food that I ordered was about the same price I pay for the smaller bag at the Pet Store! Free shipping is great too! And in just two days! Very happy with this service, and I will order again.

  • Dry cat food for urinary problems

    By on

My cat would not touch Science diet dry food that was recommended for him by his vet. I searched the Internet to see what might be an option that he would like and many, many people recommended this dry food. The maint reason I chose this was because people said this was the food that their cat would eat after turning up their noses at other foods. He loves it and I like that it is good for him.

  • A life-saver!

    By on

My little guy had to see the emergency vet for a urethral obstruction. They thought he'd be ok if he could get through 24h without re-obstructing. Well, he didn't. They continued closely monitoring him and he was able to come home on the third day. I was a nervous wreck over the next week... month, hoping it wouldn't happen again. We started feeding him Urinary SO dry and wet food immediately after seeing the vet. He's just had his annual checkup and there were NO crystals in his urine. Very thankful Royal Canin came up with such an effective formula!!

  • Great job guys

    By on

Covienient to buy the correct food for my Bella and have it delivered to the house. The girl who helped me even called the veterinarian to get the prescription. Thank you for impeccable service at reasonable prices as you have gained a truly loyal customer that is proud to do buisness with you, Mike Clifton, N.J. Thanx again

  • Try to make sure your cat will eat this before you invest.

    By on

Shipment was fast but, unfortunately the cats hate the wet OS cat food.. I have 3 cats only one needs to eat this stuff. None of them will touch it. Only 2 of my cats eat dry cat food and they both seem to be ok with the dry but, now I'm stuck with 46 cans of expensive prescription cat food and have no idea how I'm going to get them to eat it. They have always had Fancy Feast wet.

  • Cats are hooked!

    By on

After one of my cats had a bladder stone that needed to be surgerically removed, it was recommended that I start him on this food. I was worried about buying this because it's so expensive and my cats didn't like the previous brand I purchased. But since it had a 100% satisfaction guarantee, I decided to give it a shot. My cats like it so much won't eat anything else now!

  • Great solution for bladder problems

    By on

My cats love this food and want nothing else. The ones who had issues with stones forming before have not had any problems since they started on this. Also, Chewy offers it for a much better price than buying it at the vet's.
