Description

Lower urinary tract disease (LUTD) refers to a group of disorders that commonly leads to irritation of the urinary tract and corresponding undesirable clinical signs. What causes Lower Urinary Tract Disease? In cats, bacterial infections are far less common. Urinary crystals and stones are often linked to this disease. The most common cause of Lower Urinary Tract Disease in cats is idiopathic cystitis. This diet promotes a urinary environment unfavorable to the development of both struvite and calcium oxalate crystals.

Key Benefits

  • Feline Urinary SO Moderate Calorie is a highly digestible, palatable, complete and balanced adult cat food recommended for cats at risk of developing lower urinary tract disease and who are predisposed to weight gain
  • Royal Canin Urinary SO Index® promotes a urinary environment unfavorable to the development of both struvite and calcium oxalate crystals
  • Moderate calorie content supports healthy weight
  • Relative super saturation (RSS) methodology predicts the crystallization potential of urine. RSS is used to develop diets for cats prone to both struvite and oxalate urolithiasis.
  • Provides nutrition that aids in the management of pure struvite uroliths

  • does what it needs to, but too much corn

We have supplemented our cat's diet with this product for about 2 years (buying from our vet at greater cost). It has helped keep our cat from further urinary blockages (along with some other measures we use, i.e., a little vitamin C and a few drops of Urinary Gold in his regular wet food, and access to a kitty water-fountain), BUT the Royal Canin is primarily corn, which is NOT nutritious for cats. We pre-mix the RC into our cat's dry food with the other much more healthy brand we have always given him, and also give him his regular high-nutrition wet food, mixed with water. He loves the salty Royal Canin and would prefer his dry food to be ALL the RC product (because he is now a saltaholic) We have supplemented our cat's diet with this product for about 2 years (buying from our vet at greater cost). So, the 3 stars (rather than 5) are because of my concern about nutrition. My cat would have given RC 5 stars.. … more

  • Good, good and good

My cat was suffering with UTI and the veterinarian recommended change his food for a entire year. He absolutely love it. He don't even notice that I have been changed his food. Along with the prescription medications and this food he back to his normal routine. And also, Chewy has the best customer service ever. Outstanding services. Good prices and faster delivery.

  • Love this site!

I am a kitty mom to 4 furbabies. When my Jack had a urinary blockage and was prescribed this food I decided all 4 should have the same diet to avoid future problems. Chewy is easy and quick, and much cheaper than the vet's office. I am considering getting my kitty litter from Chewy also. Thank you for such a great site with so many products!

  • Nothing negative

Excellent service. Got a prescription for a 17 lb bag of special cat food, sent the px in to Chewy.com, and received the bag the next day through FedEx Will refer this company to all my friends who have animals, whether they have to have prescription food or anything that they need for their pets. Price for my order was about $20 less than buying it through my vet with no tax and free shipping over $49. Well worth it.

  • So Far, So Good

    By on

All 3 of our cats had been placed on the Royal Canin Urinary SO diet, and we've had great success with managing their condition with urinary crystals. We are trying the Moderate Calorie formula in an effort to manage their weight. We have three fat cats! So far, so good. Everyone is eating the new formula (and keeping it down), but it's too early to chart any weight changes.

  • Wonderful service!

My cats have been eating this cat food for a couple years and my overweight cat dropped 2 pounds and has no urinary issues any longer. But what really pleased me was ordering this online for the first time (after moving to a new state). It is a prescription purchase and Chewy took care of contacting my vet to verify the prescription! Press the EASY button!! Three days later it arrived on my doorstep. I'll definitely be buying my cat food this way from now on!

  • Ingredients are cringe - worthy but we haven't been back to the vet

    By on

The ingredients are terrible but after two bad blockages heartache and a $1500 hospital bill its been 4 weeks since we had to go back. Our guy doesn't like the canned food so much or this watered down so I combined both and he seems to be happy. After a couple months I will start adding in raw food to get some good nutrients in there while he goes in for regular testing.

  • FIC Catfood

    By on

One of my female cats, Izzy, was diagnosed with FIC. My vet okayed this food for her. I have been mixing it half-and-half with the grain free food she was on before. She is doing much better. Because I allow free feeding and have 3 cats, they have all been eating this mixture. Seeing the vet on Thursday for a urine test on Izzy. Hoping she is better from the test as well. They all like this mixture. Have to ask the vet if it is harmful to the other cats (male & female).

I want to thank Adi for being so compassionate and helpful when I needed to exchange my blue wilderness cat food for canine prescription urinary tract . My cat had kidney stones and this is the only food he can have now. I had the food within two days!!

  • This stuff works.

One of my kitties has suffered crystal blockages and has had two surgeries. He has been on this ever since and is doing great. All of my cats like it (I checked with my vet first to make sure it was okay for all of them).
