Description

Lower urinary tract disease (LUTD) refers to a group of disorders that commonly leads to irritation of the urinary tract and corresponding undesirable clinical signs. What causes Lower Urinary Tract Disease? In cats, bacterial infections are far less common. Urinary crystals and stones are often linked to this disease. The most common cause of Lower Urinary Tract Disease in cats is idiopathic cystitis. This diet promotes a urinary environment unfavorable to the development of both struvite and calcium oxalate crystals.

Key Benefits

  • Feline Urinary SO Moderate Calorie is a highly digestible, palatable, complete and balanced adult cat food recommended for cats at risk of developing lower urinary tract disease and who are predisposed to weight gain
  • Royal Canin Urinary SO Index® promotes a urinary environment unfavorable to the development of both struvite and calcium oxalate crystals
  • Moderate calorie content supports healthy weight
  • Relative super saturation (RSS) methodology predicts the crystallization potential of urine. RSS is used to develop diets for cats prone to both struvite and oxalate urolithiasis.
  • Provides nutrition that aids in the management of pure struvite uroliths

  • They like it!

    By on

My two cats are picky to the extreme and would not even consider another prescription brand I tried. This, however, they love! And so far, no further issues with my cat who had a bladder blockage. Will try the Royal Canin canned food next. Chewys help getting the prescription food here quickly was invaluable! I did 4 stars instead of 5 only because I am not thrilled with some of the ingredients in the prescription food.

  • ASSISTING A FRIEND IN PUERTO RICO AFTER MARIA

    By on

So my good friend in PR was desperately looking for her kitty's prescribed food after weeks of hurricane Maria hitting the island. She was able to get the prescription and sent it to me. I called Chewy, who immediately made this possible and shipped the food to me to then send to her. Although it ended up that she finally found the food in PR, I was obligated to not send it to her due to the fact that mail services in PR are just simply impossible for the time being and the package would have taken weeks if not months to deliver. If it ever did. I then called chewy to return the food, they asked me to donate it to a shelter in town and refunded me the money. Love Chewy and have recommended it to many. Keep up the good work! … more

  • Royal Canin Cat Food

    By on

The Urinary SO moderate calorie diet was recommended to help prevent struvite crystals from forming in my male cats . I'm happy to report that all 4 cats are doing very well. I very much appreciate Chewy.com, the prices are so much more affordable for someone like me. I have a limited income and I must keep to a budget while still providing the best care for my furry companions.

  • Seems to be working

    By on

One of our adopted cats developed bladder stones that were quite painful. After surgical removal of the stones, Vet recommended we keep her on this food to help prevent further stone formation. Luckily, her sister likes it too! It is expensive to buy retail. A friend recommended Chewy.com and we are now paying a reasonable price for prescription food.

  • Fresh, fast and exceeding my expectations

    By on

I was in a pinch for cat food and with the help of Chewy and my DVM, I was able to place an order quickly, save money (as it's less expensive to buy from Chewy) AND.... I got my order overnight without paying any shipping. How sweet is that for both me and most importantly my baby Lucky!

  • Prescription food that the cat actually eats!

    By on

He likes it! When Sammy had a urinary blockage and had to change to a prescription diet, I figured that he'd never eat it, and indeed, the 1st brand we tried (samples from the vet), he wouldn't even try. We tried Royal Canin next and it was an immediate hit. It's been a month, he's still chowing down, and there's been no recurrence of the blockage.

  • Special Diet for Bladder Health

    By on

This food has been a Godsend to my 12 year old cat who has always had issues with crystals and blockages. He has had no items in his bladder for over a year and LOVES this food. Saved him (and me) surgery and the price at Chewy is lower than what I paid elsewhere. This food has literally been a lifesaver my kitty and given me peace of mind.

  • He is a happy, healthy boy now!

    By on

I almost lost Duncan to a serious urinary problem. Our vet recommended Royal CaninSO Moderate Calorie for him. He wasn't overweight but Lily, our "little" girl tends to be a bit "fluffy". She also prefers to steal Duncan's food, so we went with the moderate calorie formula. Both are happy and doing well. They like the food and Duncan hasn't demonstrated any symptoms since he began the Royal Canin.

  • Super Fast Shipping!

    By on

This is a product we have happily used for some time. I decided to try ordering from Chewy to save trips to the local chain pet supply store, but most of all Chewy's prices were so much better. I am so glad I did! I ordered enough of each product and went ahead and set it up for Autoship. I ordered one morning and by the next afternoon it was on my porch!! Very impressed with Chewy.com!

  • TWO paws up

    By on

Cat was put on urinary diet. We had tried Hills Science Diet (he hated it) and Purina ProPlan (meh) so I decided to order Royal Canin (both dry and wet RX formulas). WOW - he loves it; almost too much. Happy it is moderate calorie along with RX urinary formula but going to remove the kibble dish at night because he loves this so much. My other (no urinary issues) cat loves the Science Diet as well - so definitely will need to monitor feeding time. Chewy.com quickly got my RX and shipment in just 2 days.
