Lower urinary tract disease (LUTD) refers to a group of disorders that commonly leads to irritation of the urinary tract and corresponding undesirable clinical signs. What causes Lower Urinary Tract Disease? In cats, bacterial infections are far less common. Urinary crystals and stones are often linked to this disease. The most common cause of Lower Urinary Tract Disease in cats is idiopathic cystitis. This diet promotes a urinary environment unfavorable to the development of both struvite and calcium oxalate crystals.

Key Benefits

  • Recommended for cats at risk of developing lower urinary tract disease and who are predisposed to weight gain
  • Moderate calorie content, helps maintain ideal weight
  • Dissolution of pure struvite uroliths
  • Help prevent struvite, calcium oxalate and phosphate uroliths
  • Provides nutrition that aids in the management of pure struvite uroliths
  • Relative Super Saturation (RSS) methodology predicts the crystallization potential of urine; RSS is used to develop diets that lower the concentration of ions contributing to struvite and calcium oxalate urolithiasis
  • Increasing the urine volume simultaneously reduces the saturation of urine with calcium oxalate and struvite crystals
  • Reduced level of magnesium, a natural component of struvite stones

Rated 5 out of 5 by "Very pleased with product and delivery speed" This is the "exact" same product I was buying from our Vets office. It's still expensive, but for sure less than what we have to pay at the doctors office. Unfortunately, because it is RX food I have to supply Chewy with a written RX. They did allow me to take a picture of the RX to rush things along, but I think we should be able to buy what we want from who we want. It's not Chewy's fault, but our Vet's office would not verbally release the right to fill. I do not understand why we even have to get the vets office involved. Why would we buy RX food if we did not have to (it's more expensive). How would we know we needed it if we had not been told to buy it. Again, I wish we did not have to involve the Vets office at all with purchase. July 17, 2016

Rated 5 out of 5 by So far has been helping my cat from getting more bladder stones. My cat (Tinker)had to have surgery for a couple of bladder stones that were to large to pass on their own. My vet. Recamended the special diet using the Royal Canin moderate diet urinary SO. Since using the product, Tinker has been free of the stones. She likes the tast and being able to order it online is great! Chewy shipped the food & was received quickly and in time before we went on vacation. Thank you Chewy July 7, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Cats actually love it! My cats love this food, after trying several other urinary tract foods in the past that they wouldn't touch. Now they can't get enough. However, this might be specific to our issues, but my cat's illness (cystitis) has not cleared up as a result of using the food per the vet's recommendation. We'll be going back to the vet to see what else we need to do. June 18, 2016
