Lower urinary tract disease (LUTD) refers to a group of disorders that commonly leads to irritation of the urinary tract and corresponding undesirable clinical signs. What causes Lower Urinary Tract Disease? In cats, bacterial infections are far less common. Urinary crystals and stones are often linked to this disease. The most common cause of Lower Urinary Tract Disease in cats is idiopathic cystitis. This diet promotes a urinary environment unfavorable to the development of both struvite and calcium oxalate crystals.

Key Benefits

  • Recommended for cats at risk of developing lower urinary tract disease and who are predisposed to weight gain
  • Moderate calorie content, helps maintain ideal weight
  • Dissolution of pure struvite uroliths
  • Help prevent struvite, calcium oxalate and phosphate uroliths
  • Provides nutrition that aids in the management of pure struvite uroliths
  • Relative Super Saturation (RSS) methodology predicts the crystallization potential of urine; RSS is used to develop diets that lower the concentration of ions contributing to struvite and calcium oxalate urolithiasis
  • Increasing the urine volume simultaneously reduces the saturation of urine with calcium oxalate and struvite crystals
  • Reduced level of magnesium, a natural component of struvite stones

Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent service I'm grateful to have discovered this website. No more long waits at my vet's office to cart home heavy prescription food that's now delivered to my doorstep. Best of all, it's much cheaper! Thank you! August 23, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by This product fits my needs The product arrived packaged well with no damages. I typically choose the regular Urinary SO formula from Royal Canin, but thought I would try the moderate calorie version as my indoor kitties don't get much exercise. They didn't seem to know the difference and enjoy this food just as much. Thanks Chewy for offering a great selection! August 16, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by This was recommended by my Vet and my cat likes it. My cat really likes this dry prescription food. There are not too many choices available for a Urinary diet. I serve it to her either dry or moist, with water. She prefers it dry. When I mix in the water, she really laps it up but she leaves the most of the food in the bowl. At least this makes her drink, since she is not a good water drinker. I have used other prescription foods in the past for my other cats, and besides the cost, they usually do not care for them. My cat and I are happy with this food. August 9, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by My cat has not had urinary problems since I have used this product Excellent for cats with urinary problems. I am able to use dry food again without urinary flareups and vet visits. August 21, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Advantages of Vet Diets I prefer not to purchase Vet approved food; however this one is great for my one kitty who has a urinary tract, intestinal issue. It has the PH that he needs process food. Since it is a bit pricey, I now mix it with Purina Pro Kibbles plus a dietary supplement. I also feed a lot of wet food which helps the condition. Rated 5 out of 5 by Cured bladder stones My cat had bladder stones which were pretty bad on the XR. My vet recommended this food along with pain meds and we were to return in 1 month for a repeat XR. If stones were still present she would be having surgery that day. I was skeptical and was really preparing for her surgery. But the stones were gone! Thus stuff really works. I know the ingredients may not be the highest quality but they like it and won't eat any other kibble. Most importantly it saved her from needing surgery. August 9, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by "Very pleased with product and delivery speed" This is the "exact" same product I was buying from our Vets office. It's still expensive, but for sure less than what we have to pay at the doctors office. Unfortunately, because it is RX food I have to supply Chewy with a written RX. They did allow me to take a picture of the RX to rush things along, but I think we should be able to buy what we want from who we want. It's not Chewy's fault, but our Vet's office would not verbally release the right to fill. I do not understand why we even have to get the vets office involved. Why would we buy RX food if we did not have to (it's more expensive). How would we know we needed it if we had not been told to buy it. Again, I wish we did not have to involve the Vets office at all with purchase. July 17, 2016
