Feeding guidelines are general recommendations only. The amount of food required by your cat may vary above or below that listed in this feeding guide. In consultation with your veterinarian it is recommended that you weight your cat 4 to 6 weeks after starting a new diet in order to adjust food intake to maintain or achieve an optimal body weight and body condition score. Consult your veterinarian for specific feeding guidelines for your cat. This diet is formulated to be complete and balanced. It is unnecessary to feed leftover foods, kitchen scraps or additional supplements. It is recommended that your cat be fed 2 to 4 equal portions of the diet per day. Ensure fresh drinking water is available at all times. Store this product in a cool, dry place.

Transition Instructions

We recommend at least a 7 day transition before you begin feeding the new food exclusively. Start by mixing 75% of the old diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the old diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the old diet with 75% of the new diet. On the 7th day, you can feed the new food exclusively. This allows your pet’s digestive system to smoothly adapt to the new food.

Frequently Asked Questions

How are Royal Canin diets preserved?

All of our dry diets are preserved naturally with mixed tocopherols, citric acid, and rosemary extract. Our canned diets are naturally preserved and sterilized during the cooking and canning process.

Where do the ingredients in Royal Canin diets come from?

We select our ingredients based on multiple factors, including the supplier’s compliance with our quality and food safety requirements, consistent availability, and on the nutrients required to meet the dietary needs of the pet.

Royal Canin is making strides towards sustainability by attempting to obtain sources of raw materials as close to each manufacturing facility as possible. In some cases, we use international suppliers, because only those suppliers can offer raw materials that comply with our quality and food safety standards.

Why do some Royal Canin diets contain by-products?

Royal Canin chooses ingredients because they deliver high-quality nutrients that support our customized pet food formulas. Using chicken by-product meal instead of chicken meal for example will allow Royal Canin to maintain its highly customized nutrient standards while achieving a more secure and sustainable supply.

Why do some Royal Canin diets contain grains?

Grains can be a healthy part of any cat or dog’s diet. As always, we focus on the nutrients each ingredient provides and grains can provide many important nutrients.

How do you ensure Royal Canin diets are safe for my pet?

Our Quality and Food Safety systems are state-of-the-art and we continue to invest heavily in new technology to make sure they remain that way.

  • We put our suppliers through a rigorous selection process that doesn’t end with our first purchase.
  • We monitor every load delivered to our plants to verify the safety and quality of the ingredients we use to make pet food.
  • We perform tests on finished pet foods before they are shipped to our customers.
  • We manufacture every pet food we sell, in plants that we own; our plants are ISO 9001:2008 certified for Quality Management and ISO 22000 certified for Food Safety.

How do I know which Royal Canin diet is right for my pet?

Based on size, age, lifestyle, and breed, each cat or dog has unique nutritional needs. For healthy pets, use our Product Selector to find the right diet for your cat or dog.

If your pet is experiencing health issues, please refer to your veterinarian for more information. Your veterinarian will consider multiple factors when recommending an appropriate diet.

Only one of my four fur babies needs this food. ALL of them love it. If the bowl is empty they all stand by it & meow at me!! The one who needs this food has intestinal disease & has flare ups which breaks my heart. This food seems to be working very well for him :)

We have a rescue that has had GI issues since 5 weeks old and this is the only food so far that offers him relief. All stores were out and found it on here and could be delivered!!! The auto shipments are gonna make it a breeze to never run out again!

  • No more diarrhea!

    By on

By day two, my old cat who used to be quite chubby but is now skinny from 2 years of chronic stress diarrhea (a rambunctious kitten added to our household), was actually making formed stool! I was amazed! We had tried everything within reason (metronidazole, b12 injections, prednisolone, added fiber in her wet food) and none solved the problem. It was the food. This is an absolute life saver for my little old lady who is happier and gaining weight. Feeding time is more complicated now because I have two other healthy cats, but this stuff works so it's worth it!

  • Gastrointestinal Cat Food - Royal Canin

    By on

I ordered this instead of what the vet recommended for my cat, Boris, who has inflammatory bowel disease. He had dropped from 12 to 9 pounds before it was under control. However, the high protein recommended by the vet caused him to continue to throw up until he was down to 8 pounds. With this and a teaspoon of water packed tuna, he is back up to 9 pounds after six weeks and his coat has returned to its beautiful velvet gray. Further, I never ceased to be amazed that Chewy delivers exactly two days after I place my order.

  • Best Rx Dry Food Yet!

    By on

Every cat in the household loves this food. It is a bit on the pricey side, but to have all the cats eating this and not 7 different diets for each cat is great!!

  • no more diarrhea!

    By on

My kitten was prescribed this food along with the canned version for chronic diarrhea. It took her a couple days to take to the dry food, but now she is devouring it! Since being on the new diet, she also hasn't had any more diarrhea. Very happy with this food despite the cost, as it's worth it to no longer have to deal with my kitten getting upset stomach all the time. I purchased my first bag from the vet, but will likely be getting it from Chewy from now on with their convenient autoship feature.

  • This product is to replace an old food that has been discontinued.

    By on

I spoke with a man from Chewy and this is what he recommended for my cat since her old food was being discontinued. My cat took to this food really well. I think she is doing better in this food then the old one. Besides the food working really well for her, the customer service is excellent - thank you Chewy!!!!
