Description

Grooming is an essential part of keeping your pet clean and healthy. Coastal Pet Products offers a full selection of Safari grooming tools that make this task quick and easy. One product that is essential for every household with pets is a flea comb. This comb can be used to make sure flea control products are working properly. In addition, the closely spaced teeth on a flea comb allow you to examine the overall condition of the coat. Dry skin that may appear after bathing is easily detected when using this flea comb. For pets with skin afflictions, dried blood collected in the fine teeth of this comb will alert your customer that their pet may have a rash, sore or other problem.

Instructions

  • Before using, groom your cat with a Safari cat comb or brush to remove mats and tangles that could damage the teeth of the flea comb. If needed, apply flea treatment before combing.

  • Comb your cat slowly, periodically checking the teeth of the comb for fleas or debris. Pay particular attention to areas around the ears, nape of neck and base of tail. Between strokes, dip the cat flea comb into a cup of water with mild detergent to kill the fleas left on the comb.

  • Winner in my search for best flea comb

    By on

Unfortunately, I found myself in the middle of a flea infestation in my house. Ugh. So I ramped up the vacuuming, carpet shampooing, and sprinkling of diatomaceous earth on my carpets, and tackled the fleas on my cats directly with frequent combing (the expensive topical treatment only seemed effective for a couple of weeks). I bought a number of flea combs, and this Safari comb is hands-down the winner. Its teeth are fine enough and close enough together to catch even the smallest and most slippery of fleas. Be sure to shake, flick, or wipe them quickly into a bowl of soapy water. Use caution not to scratch your cat and don't let the comb get caught in the cat's loose, wrinkly skin. It's not hard, just something to be mindful of. The Safari comb might be the most delicate one, being so fine. I accidentally knocked some teeth out of alignment on the rim of a bowl. I love this comb, though; it has been invaluable in my battle against those dastardly, vicious fleas. … more

  • Best I've found in 10 years of searching.

Years ago I got the perfect flea comb, I don't remember where. It had a curved shape to fit my hand, fine-spaced teeth, and allowed me to drag the fleas from the teeth to crush against the plastic handle. But they do wear out and the teeth fall out. New ones I bought were so heavy and straight they didn't work well on the cats, and teeth fell out really fast. This one is almost as good a shape as the old one, and the teeth seem to be well attached so far. It is harder to use because there is a flat edge next to the teeth vs older more costly one had a smooth edge. So the fleas can hang on to the teeth better, harder to drag them out. This is why it is a 4, not a 5. But most of the Years ago I got the perfect flea comb, I don't remember where. • Better than other flea combs

This comb will pick up fleas - multiple fleas in one comb. Have an infestation of fleas in my home and on cats and use this comb several times a day to help control them without using pesticides on my cats. In fact they have begun to dread this comb. Have a jar of hot water beside me or a zip lock bag to deposit fleas as I come upon them. The majority of time the fleas are within the tight combs which allows for killing them. Highly recommend this comb. I use the comb to sprinkle diatomaceous earth on it and comb it into the cat's fur and that is helping control the fleas along with vacuuming.

  • BUY THIS COMB

If you think you might have a flea problem, this comb is the best way to help identify. I have two indoor only cats, and I noticed them scratching pretty often. I ordered this comb, and now we are in the process of treating them for fleas. When I comb them most of the time the fleas get stuck in the teeth so they can't jump away. I pull them out of the comb and then immediately spray the flea with Vets Best Flea and Tick home Spray. It is an all natural spray and it kills fleas instantly. This comb has been a life saver and we are finally starting to see the light at the end of this flea tunnel!!

  • Safari Flea Comb for Cats

    By on

I saw one of these at the vet's office and thought it was wonderful. Never knew these existed. Bought it and am so glad I did. It is wonderful. The flea medicine that you give your animals (at the base of their neck) just doesn't work like it used to. The Fleas are getting too smart. Even the vet said so. So now, I comb my cat out every day, just to make sure she is healthy and flea free (along with the flea medicine). It works great.

  • Really gets the fleas

    By on

I love this flea comb because it really works and gets even the tiny fleas. I just bought a second one. You have to be quick though because some fleas will try to jump from the comb. I always have a bowl of soapy water standing by.

I bought it for my diabetic cat that doesn't clean himself very well any longer. I do use Frontxxxx, but I wanted to make sure he's free of fleas. No regrets, best $5 spent, EVER. Trust me.

  • Secondary use

    By on

I don't use these flea combs for fleas. But rather as a way to groom my 5 cats. It works great as a way to keep coats shiney and loose fur at a minimum. It also helps to keep down incidents of regurgitated fur balls.
