Description

Renal Essentials Feline Bite-Sized Chews help maintain proper kidney function by supporting renal circulation, normal fluid retention, detoxification, stress management, homocysteine balance, and kidney and liver function. The inclusion of astragalus root powder supports kidney circulation and immune function, while the Chinese herb rehmannia supports kidney and liver function, and is known as the kidney’s own food.

Other ingredients like vitamins B1 and B2 support metabolic activity, including the metabolism of proteins, fats, and carbohydrates, supporting proper energy production. Folic acid, DMG, B12 and B6 help support methylation and sulfuration pathways, while minerals like potassium are important for water balance. B vitamins are water soluble and not properly recycled during times of kidney stress or dysfunction; therefore, supplementation may be required.

  • If your cat will eat them, mine did not!

    By on

My cat ate the first two I gave her as long as I broke them up but then refused them repeatedly. I tried mixing & sneaking a few tiny pieces in her other dry food and she accidentally ate a small tidbit, never to ever fall for that trick again. I waited weeks than tried them in a few pill pockets but in order to get one of these into a cat sized pill pocket, it takes 3 pill pockets per vetri chew. Meaning for one daily serving, I'd have to feed my cat 12 pill pockets a day just to get her to the recommended daily serving needed/suggested. Pill pockets are not made for ckd, so kinda defeats the purpose & goal of the vetri benefits. They are hard & don't smell good. I really wanted her to like them but they are more of a hassle & pain to trick her to eat them. They have to make them more appealing, softer & palatable. Cats are smart & keen. I recommend at least giving them a try b/c you'll never know unless you try for yourself & your cat. Every cat is different, just like people. … more

  • So far so good.

    By on

To my surprise (based on some other reviews) my cat likes these. I dont think they smell that bad as some others have stated. I use a pill crusher and mix into wet food, even though these are treats, I do the same with the Glycoflex treats made by the same company. (they are the same texture as those if you buy them, about 1/2 the size of the Glycoflex "fish"). She hasnt had bloodwork since starting these. She is feeling better, but hard to say if this is just a coincidence or not.

  • great product

I purchased this for my cat who is getting older and vet said he will have renal problems according to a blood test taken. This product they used to sell in their clinic. My cat eats it, which is good and views as a treat rather than a "pill punishment."

  • Excellent Supplement

    By on

This is an excellent supplement for a cat with renal failure. It helps with the digestion issues and has significantly helped our cat with renal failure. While kidneys do not return to normal function, this product helps the kidneys function to their best ability.

Vetri Science Renal & UTI chews are helping our big girl so quickly. Her girth has minimized within 1st week of using this; her urine was no longer bloody "black" when I washed her. She's feeling alot more energetic. I will keep these on regular shipments so she doesn't run out. Thanx Chewy 4Chews that work for Lacee. MEOW

  • Picky cat loves VetriScience

    By on

Our older cat needed some energy boosting so I chose the renal as well as the lysine supplements from VetriScience. I have never ever seen this cat eat any human food and if the cat food isn't of the highest grade, it too is ignored. Wow, she LOVES these little fish "treats". I alternate formulas each day. Honestly she seems to have more energy, not just sleeping all day but shows off for the dogs and tries to get them to play chase. Maybe the dogs need some VetriScience too!!

  • Surprise! My cat LOVES these kidney support treats!

    By on

My cat Gigi has turned away from every healthy treat I've offered over 15 years. Turns out she LOVES these treats. I cut each treat into four pieces which seems just the right size to chew. Gigi seems to like the chewiness, which in fact makes her actually chew the treat rather than just swallowing it whole and scarfing everything down in .5 seconds! The whole thing was too big and chewey for her to manage, and when I tried cutting it into like 5-6 small pieces, they got stuck on her tongue. It took awhile for Gigi to get them off and swallowed, and she seemed distressed. I don't think they smell like urine...I think they smell more like a bag of vitamin B supplements. Since starting on these and special kidney care food, Gigi has a bit of a bounce in her step and she is more playful. So I'm guessing she's feeling better. After reading all the other reviews here on chewey.com before buying, I surmised that about 50% of cats seemed to like them. The major complaints were the smell and that they are chewey. Well, Gigi likes both attributes, so there you go. Every cat is different. The 100% guaranteed returns policy for any reason for a year with free shipping made it a simple decision to give these VetriSCIENCE Renal Essentials Feline treats a try. Gigi and I are happy we did! … more

  • My kidney-challenged cats eat these! What more could you want?

    By on

I had to put both of my cats on a kidney-friendly diet because they have CKD. I was relieved to find that they actually like these treats (and one of them is a REALLY finicky eater.) Thanks for making this product. One thing to know, though, is that the treats (which are fish-shaped) are pretty big. A very small cat or one with few teeth might need to have the treats cut in half.

  • Kitty Did Not Like....

    By on

Sure wish my CKD kitty would've liked these....but...she didn't want anything to do with them....In fact, my other 4 cats wouldn't eat them either....Hmmmm I'm sure they are a good product as I do purchase the VetriScience probiotic...and my cats like those.....but...the kidney treats were "paws-down" from my kitties....

  • My cat will not eat these

I have a finicky toothless special needs senior Siamese rescue and he just did not like these at all. They were too hard and not chewy enough for him.
