Rated 4 out of 5 by Judith42 MY TWO CATS LOVE THIS CHICKEN AND HERRING
Wellness makes a good canned food for cats. I would buy it much more often if they would remove the carrageenan. My cats especially love their canned chicken.
I just gave them the chicken and herring and they really loved it. They ate it right away and wanted more. It is a high calorie food, 189 calories in a 5.5 oz. can.
I only give them fish once a week or ten days. Fish is not a natural food for them. They originated in no. Africa where water sources are rare and cats get their water from the prey animals which are about 70% water. So they do not drink much water and should not be fed much dry food. Only 20% or so.
I just emailed Wellness to make sure they do not source any ingredients from China, including vitamines and minerals which a lot of companies do. I also asked them if they use cans with BPA. Both carrageenan and BPA in cans are thought to be possible causes of cancer.
I hope more and more of us will go on companies web sites find their e-mail addresses and ask questions. Quite often the 5.5 oz cans are free of BPA while the larger cans do. The larger cans are of course a better price.

I don't know why larger cans of cat food are hard to find but they are. I only use wet to supplement dry but boy does he love it. I take a lot of time to read product analysis on pet food. This met my standards for my cat with no health concerns. I don't know if this is relevant to the food but he seems to not be shedding as much hair either. Weather in Florida is finally cooling down though he is an indoor cat so that's why I contribute this benefit to the food though it probably isn't the reason.

Wellness catfood is a great product, but what is equally good is the service provided by Chewy. I have raved about Chewy to many people and I know several are now ordering. I love the autoship, the notification prior to shipment, and the fact that it arrives in one to two days. I also love the fact that a live voice will answer the phone 24 hours a day!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Sandra219 A touchdown for my two picky cats
This food is great. My cats are on a grain free diet, and prefer fish as the main flavor. Due to vet recommendation (try a mixed flavor of fish and something else) I decided to try Chicken and Herring. They both loved it! Their coats are nicer (less shedding, less dandruff) and they seem to fill up on less of this food as compared to the brand they used to get.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Catmando Overall, best canned cat food for my 4 cats
Let's face it, cats can be picky eaters. What appeals to one cat may not appeal to another. That said, I have 4 cats (two seniors, and two 1-2 year olds) and after a lot of trial-and-error, Wellness canned cat food has turned out to be the winner for me. (Their diet is split between this and Taste Of The Wild dry kibble.) There were a couple of other winners in the taste-off, but other companies' grain-free product did not come in the large cans, and so were not economical for me. (One important note: I do have one cat who semi-regularly vomited her meals over many years, and after I did a little research I tried eliminating all 'beef' varieties from her diet, and the vomiting has completely stopped. I've had cats for over 30 years and was unaware that beef is a common allergen for cats. Now, I just stick with the Chicken/Herring formula, which is the consensus winner for all my cats.)
