Transition Instructions

This food is formulated for adult, non-reproducing cats over one year old as kittens and pregnant or nursing mothers have special nutritional requirements. It is important to slowly transition your cat from his/her current diet as it takes a few days for the body to adapt to new nutrient levels. To transition, gradually mix in the new food over a 5 - 7 day period, increasing the amount of Wellness each day, so that you are feeding 100% Wellness® CORE® by day 7.

CORE is highly palatable so your cat may tend to eat more of this food. Watch initially to see if you need to adjust regular eating patterns. Give your cat access to clean, cool fresh water at all times and feed Wellness® CORE® wet food in combination whenever possible, to increase the level of water in your cat's diet. Nutrition is the foundation of wellbeing, but be sure to give your cat plenty of love, exercise and see your veterinarian regularly!

  • Hypercalcemia is gone!

    By on

My cat had been eating regular Wellness Indoor for about 6 years with no problem. Back this spring I noticed she wasn't eating as much and seemed to have lost weight. After taking her to the vet, it was determined she had hypercalcemia (excess ionized calcium levels). The vet did multiple tests to rule out possible lymphoma and it was determined hers was "idiopathic hypercalcemia" meaning there is no real cause. We decided to switch her diet to something that was grain free. We went back for follow up blood work earlier this week and today the results came back - her ionized calcium levels are down significantly and within the normal range. The vet said switching her food worked! … more

  • I'm happy with the ingredients

    By on

It's been a little while since I settled on this food for my cats, I looked at a lot of brands before choosing this one. I feed mainly wet food, I think it is much better for them, but my two cats were eating the dog's dry food every chance they got. It was like Doritos to them, especially the fluffy one, who I think was eating more of that than her own food. I finally gave in because dog food doesn't have some of the essential nutrients for cats, so if the fluffy one was going to rely on dry it had better be cat food. She loves it. The other cats likes it as well, although she doesn't act as much like a junkie about it. It seems like the fluffy one got a little fluffier. • Best According to Reviews but My Cat HATES It

    By on

Initially when I got it, I was so excited, since it seemed to be the healthiest option out there. I liked that it was all natural ingredients, and I don't want anything but the best for my cat. I also change my cat's food pretty frequently, so I didn't think there would be a problem with this. BUT my cat HATES this food. He won't even eat it, and he isn't picky at all. I thought he might be sick, but I gave him a bowl of my roommate's cat's food, and he gobbled it up. Also, it is ridiculously expensive. Definitely will not be re-buying this. I gave it two stars rather than one, because it does have an amazing list of ingredients.

  • Cats sort through their kibble and leave this in their bowls

    By on

We feed a variety of wet and dry foods to our 5 cats. Even if any one of them is not wild about the wet food at a particular meal, they gladly accept a handful of kibble instead. Except for this one. They will literally sort through a bowl of three kinds of mixed kibble and all that's left in the bowl is specifically this Wellness food. Too bad; it sounds like a healthy product, but it does no good unless your cats eat it (although it would be sort of devious method of "weight control").

  • Good food but my cats aren't impressed

    By on

I purchased this food based on the ingredients. I have 4 cats, one does not care for fish and another is allergic to eggs - this eliminates 90% of the dry cat food on the market that I am able to feed. Wellness CORE has a decent kibble shape/size, kind of like a cylindrical pea. Because of the good I'm giving it 4 stars, but I will not buy it again as my cats seem to not care for either the taste or the kibble shape - the same half cup of food has been sitting in the dish for 2 days now.

  • Healthy Choice for Kitty Kids

    By on

Switched both of my kids to this food a year ago as the 10 year old was overweight and I wanted the 3 year old on a healthy regimen. After trial and error with other recommended brands, they love this food. Feed the recommended amount for each of them twice a day. My big boy now has a healthy weight and the little girl is very healthy. Very few hairballs and both have soft, healthy fur. Great product. Worth the price to keep my babies healthy.

  • Great food choice!

    By on

We have four indoor cats, and I've been looking for a food that gives them shiny, smooth, and healthy coats, and that won't upset their stomachs. A friend's cats had that kind of coat, and she recommended this food. I've slowly switched mine over, and have noticed a huge improvement in their coats already. Their stomachs seem to like the food as well, which was also a concern. So, I'm very happy with this food!

  • Maine Coon finally eats dry food!

    By on

So I rescued a 7 year old very depressed Maine Coon (his dad that he has been with his whole life went into nursing home) and I think this kitty was very spoiled. He is a very picky eater. I want him on the very best food possible. After trying a lot of different brands, he finally ate this dry food! It figures too, he eats a lot, and it's one of the more expensive...but that's okay. He's an absolute angel.

  • Good ingredients but only one of two cats liked it.

    By on Top 100 Contributor

My one cat who would eat rocks if I put it in his bowl ate this food right up. My female cat, for whatever reason wont eat any indoor formula. She wouldn't eat Blue either. So I picked up her bowl and gave her Merrick Duck + Turkey and she gobbled it right up. This is a pass for me if both cats don't eat it. If your cat is somewhat picky they may not like this.

  • New Flavor for My Cat

    By on

The original food my cat has been eating is CORE WELLNESS with lots of ingredients (mostly fish). This flavor smells so bad that we decided to try to incorporate 1/2 & 1/2 a new flavor (Chicken & Turkey) with it. Our cat seems to like it so as soon as the fish flavored food is gone we'll switch to the Chicken/Turkey. It doesn't have the pungent smell like the fish.
