How to Feed Your Kitten As kittens grow up they need to learn when, where and how to eat. Depending on age, kittens need to be fed at the same time and in the same place 2-4 times per day. Food should be removed after 20 minutes, if not eaten. In the beginning, kitten’s food can be moistened with a little warm water.

Transition Instructions

current diet as it takes a few days for the body to adapt to new nutrient levels. To transition, gradually mix in the new food over a 5 - 7 day period, increasing the amount of Wellness® CORE® each day, so that you are feeding 100% Wellness CORE by day 7.

Nutrition is the foundation of wellbeing, but be sure to give your cat plenty of fresh water, love and exercise and visit your veterinarian regularly!

  • Great ingredients, but kittens didn't like it much

    By on

This is a very good quality product. The ingredients are what we were looking for in a dry food - no grains, no odd animal byproducts, good quality ingredients. The form factor is small disks. Our two 5-month old kittens did not care for this product very much - they would eat them, but they preferred another product we had available. I'm not sure if their preference was based on the form factor (the other product was larger disks) or the flavor. The fact our kittens did not like eating this product is why I gave only 4 stars. The product is definitely a great product, but not all kittens will like it.

  • Kitten is thriving!

    By on

The 11 week old kitten I took in started this diet about two weeks ago. He is doing wonderful on it. He eats it all, wet food or not. He doesn't seem hungry all the time like you see with cats on diets of lesser quality, even while burning so much energy playing and running. Despite having a persistent cold, his eyes are bright, he's maintaining a good weight, and he is full of energy. I have a hard time keeping my older cat from sneaking into his food as well. I am very happy with this line and believe my kitten will stay on this diet for a very long time.

  • Excellent Food for Kittens

    By on

First, I love this food because it has the most meat ingredients of almost any other kitten food I have found. I prefer when kitten foods don't have potatoes as the second or third ingredient on the list (silly, I know, but I would prefer for kittens to have more protein than starch). My new kitten I adopted LOVES this food and I have a hard time keeping my older cat out of it! I also fed it to my mom's two cats when they were kittens and, just like my kitten, it gave them lots of energy and kept them full. I always recommend this food for kittens because it is just so good for them!

  • Perfect Dry Food for Kittens!

    By on

When I adopted my Kitten I switched him from Friskies dry food to this. He actually preferred eating Wellness when it was mixed in with is old food (you could tell he picked through it for the good stuff!). Everyone compliments Milky on his extremely soft, healthy coat thanks to Wellness! Friends say he's the softest kitty they've ever met. I highly recommend this food!

  • Good for Ferrets!!

    By on

I run a rescue for ferrets and other small animals but basically, I recieved a trio of ferrets who are severely malnourished. I did some research on the food the previous owners were giving him and- tadaa! Too little protein and fat but way too much fiber and grain. So I instantly looked at the ferret food in my area since I recently ran out and doing more read each on the ones in stock in my area shows that even the ferret food around me is terrible. This kitten kibble here is perfects! It literally goes above the requirements and is healthier than the other foods I was interested in erring. Yes, it's a little pricey but price doesn't matter when it comes to healthcare! • sleek coats

    By on

Our two kittens eat the dry and wet food from Wellness. They have the best coats I've ever seen or felt. They practically do not shed at all. It's costly though. It runs us about $77 a month. I guess that's the trade off.

  • They love it and I love the ingredients

    By on

My 8 week old kitten loves this in combination with Wellness wet kitten food. We had no problem switching her from her old food (Meow Mix, bleah). I love knowing I'm feeding her healthy food instead of the terrible grocery store options. I highly recommend

  • Great for a growing kitten

    By on

I recently adopted an 8 month old stray who showed up at my door under nourished. I fed my other cats Wellness Core kitten when they were kittens so I knew this would be the right route to go with her. She loves it (as do the two adults, it's hard keeping them out of the kitten food!). Highly recommended.

  • Switched from cheap brand to this

    By on

So far pretty good! I mixed this in with his old food to start the transition and I do notice he eats around this stuff and tries to eat his old food first, but I think that'll change. He does usually clean up his plate eventually and is open to the new food. It is very stinky, but I think that's a good sign of its high quality ingredients. I feel a lot better serving my kitten this, than some of those cheap brands that are obviously bad for them. Tip: I keep it in an automatic pet feeder and I can't smell anything.

  • Kitten will not eat this.

    By on

I purchased a bag of this and my new kitten will not eat this at all. If I mix it with another food he will still leave this in his bow.
