Transition Instructions

Weruva always recommends switching your cat or dog's diet slowly and to adjust according to your pet's digestive stability. Typically, a 6 day transition suites most pet's needs. We recommend feeding a mix of 25% Weruva & 75% of the previous food for the first 2 days. For the next 2 days, feed 50% Weruva & 50% of the previous diet. • Not the best Weruva choice

    By on

I have fed several Weruva varieties but this is my least favorite choice. As one other reviewer noted this variety seems to have less meat and replaces the volume/weight with more gravy. The cats like it though they eat around the vegetables, which I wish were much smaller and made up a smaller percent of the total solids. Paw's lickin' chicken and the chicken with liver are the better choices from Weruva IMHO.

  • kitties use to love it

My cats use to love this food but aren't so fond of this last batch. Not sure if there's been a formula change or just a coincidence but 2 of my 4 cats started having diarrhea after this latest case so we won't be buying this flavor again.

  • IN LOVE....

If you have a problem cat like I do, this may be the solution for you... I am a licensed veterinary technician with a problem cat. I obtained him through work because he was going to be put down due to his urinating problems. He had struvite crystals and his previous owners couldn't afford the veterinary prescription diet. So me, working there, I decided to save the poor cat. He was on the diet for 6 months and started vomiting, so, we switched him to a different veterinary prescription diet that would help with his vomiting (IBS) AND crystals in his urine. He then started being a super groomer and had NO hair on his stomach. I was driving myself crazy between cleaning up vomit, paying big bills If you have a problem cat like I do, this may be the solution for you... He was on the diet for 6 months and started vomiting, so, we switched him to a different veterinary prescription diet that would help with his vomiting (IBS) AND crystals in his urine. He then started being a super groomer and had NO hair on his stomach. I was driving myself crazy between cleaning up vomit, paying big bills for this expensive food, and have a cat that looks awful. Not to mention, the prescription diets were FILLED with corn and meat by-products. I was at wits end but this cat was worth it, he is such a cool cat and I couldn't bear to euthanize him because of something he couldn't help. I started to do some research and found that canned food is by far better than feeding dry food for urinary crystals because it contains less ash % (minerals). I figured my cat probably had some sort of allergy to the ingredients he had been eating. He needed fiber to help with his IBS. I started to do some more research on what foods would fit my criteria on what I needed. I decided to go with Weruva. It's a small company that makes food for the benefits of what is natural to the feline itself. The ash content was MUCH lower than that of Tiki cat and Wellness. I was amazed. My cat LOVES all the flavors of the origal line of Weruva foods. I stayed away from Cats in the Kitchen because the ash content was not as low as the original lineup. I stayed away from the TRUluxe because it was just not budget friendly to me... I also stayed away from the fish because I know that the magnesium is not good for my cat that has previous crystal problems. He wasn't very happy when I stuck the canned food in front of him, he still demanded the dry food. It was a slow progression. After 2 weeks I had him completely on the canned food and he WANTED more all the time. I now feed my 12lb cat 1.5 cans of food a day and NO dry food at all. He hasn't vomited once... and he hasn't had any urinary crystals and his hair has started growing back. Sometimes he won't eat the peas or carrots but most days he will eat it all. The ONLY thing I don't like about Weruva is that the food is outsourced from other countries which makes me leary of their food protocols. However, the company stands by their products and tests it all. AND its the only thing that has brought my cat back to his normal self... It has been a lifesaver, and I would 100% recommend it to everyone. … more

  • Less meat then other Weruva blends

    By on

The Paw Lickin chicken seems to have the most chicken content. This flavor has much more broth than the other blends, which is how it is described in title. The cats seem to like it, but it doesn't seem as substantial as the other flavors and they seem more hungry prior to their next feeding.

  • Of two cats, one loves it, one can't keep it down.

    By on

The food is pretty appealing looking even to me -- and both cats will snarf it down. Sadly, one cat won't keep it down, not reliably enough -- I actually think he loves it so much he rushes and makes himself sick. But the fact is, I've had to clean up a lot of Grandma's Chicken Soup.... still, clearly cats go for this stuff.

  • Great quality

    By on

My cat has urinary issues because he does not drink enough and this food is great for him. It contains a lot of broth so it helps increase his liquid intake. This food contains shredded white meat chicken, carrots and peas. The quality is excellent and looks like human food but my cat wont eat the peas. This is a high quality food and a great way to increase your cat's water intake.

  • Chicken Soup for the Soul

Thanks to Chewy, I discovered the Weruva brand and the cats love it. I love it, because I like seeing real shredded chicken and high quality ingredients. Grandma's Chicken Soup was a hit, because the cats all love the extra gravy. I put the can in a bowl of hot water for a couple minutes so it brings it to a nice slightly warmed temperature. I break up the chicken a little, because some of the shreds are pretty long and the cats seem to have difficulty with it. If I break it up, they lick the bowl clean. I use a fork to mash the peas. They will not eat the round peas, but if I smoosh them, they eat them. Another plus with Weruva is that they have so many different protein choices and combinations Thanks to Chewy, I discovered the Weruva brand and the cats love it. • Healthy Selection but Cats Turn up Their Nose

    By on

After much research I found this food to be a nutritious choice for my two cats; unfortunately, they will not touch it. I've tried mixing it with their Merrick Pate'...which they LOVE... but it doesn't matter, they will not touch the Weruva. I gave it three stars because I believe it to be a nutritious food choice.
