My elderly Savannah had spent a lifetime on the raw diet. She'd always been finicky about picking out only the chicken, and was extremely resistant to change. People who say "let them get hungry enough, they'll eat", are incorrect. She'd go 5 days without eating if an ingredient was changed. I know, I've had to call manufacturers to confirm why she wouldn't eat her food. There was no way to sneak supplements into her diet. Period. She recently became ill and refused water as well. While she was hospitalized to correct the dehydration and run diagnostics, I was combing specialty pet food suppliers. I came home with everything from goat milk to variations on raw. While she was hospitalized to correct the dehydration and run diagnostics, I was combing specialty pet food suppliers. I came home with everything from goat milk to variations on raw. I didn't have much hope for this one. She's never in 14 years shown interest in canned. I popped the top and was shocked how good it smelled, to me! I took some on a teaspoon to where she'd been lying motionless since coming home and she lifted her head to sniff. Then she started eating. When I got up to dump the can onto a plate she sat up. I held the plate and she ate almost the entire serving. I sat with her for several hours, certain her stomach wouldn't hold it after 6 days but it did. She's completely recovered now, 2 weeks later, and eating 3 cans a day. She'll wake me up at odd times if she's hungry. The much needed nutrients are showing in her energy and attitude. She's younger. I'll be ordering this food in bulk from Chewy.com permanently. … more

  • Lots to say

I spent a great deal of time researching and speaking with experts about this food solely because of it's country of origin. When I learned that my Abyssinian had special dietary needs this food was recommended; she loved it and it has helped her. I then learned that this food was made in Thailand I decided to do some reading. Weruva has a spotless record and I am, at this time, confident that this product is something I can feel good about feeding to my feline family. As consumers we MUST pay attention and do the work to assure we have made conscientious decisions regarding our pets and their health.

  • My cats stopped eating it.

    By on

My 2 cats used to eat it, although not lick the dish clean. Then the food started looking gray colored every time I opened a new can. The older cat stopped eating it and the younger one ate it reluctantly then try to bury what was left on the dish until he stopped eating it altogether . I called the manufacturer about the change in color and was informed that it was a normal oxidation of the food due to the vitamins in the food and that it was perfectly safe. My cats did not agree.

  • Great cat food

    By on

After very extensive research on the type of diet cats should be having (all wet, no dry, very little to no fish), I found Weruva. Their food, I feel, is what matches their diet the best. I bought a can of Paw Lickin' Chicken for my two cats to try before I committed and they loved it! Both dishes were licked clean by the end of the night.

  • Nutritious and healthy

    By on

This food delivers great nutrition (65% protein, 32% fat and 3% carbs)! It is grain, carrageenan, and gluten-free! It looks like food I would want to eat. It has great nutrition but does have a small amount of potato starch and xanthan gum. Chewy is where I now buy virtually all my canned food; you can get no shipping charges and the cost beats or matches everywhere else and delivery was fast!!

  • Paw & Whisker Lickin' Chicken

    By on

One of the cats' most favorite meals. They love the gravy of Paw Lickin' and Grandma's Chicken Soup, which seem to be fairly similar. None of them will touch the Chicken Frick A Zee. I warm up the can in a bowl of hot water for a couple minutes so it is slightly warmed and I break up the chicken a little, as some of the shreds can be really long. I love that Weruva has a variety of flavor combinations, proteins and textures to choose from, and that they also have 6 oz and 10 oz cans. The more options the better to keep the kitties from getting bored.

  • Depends on the cats

    By on

I wanted to change to a grain-free, slow-cooked (as close as canned can come to raw) food for general cat health, but both cats declined to eat the shredded pieces of chicken and turkey. They licked the liquid off, then went back to their cat kibbles.

  • Not worth it

    By on

If you have used this product since kittenhood or have Savanah or Bengal cats I think this is not for them . My cats beg like starved dogs for a piece of my chicken , all they really want is a little skin a morsel and really to hang out. There is no way my cats will even touch it .

  • High Quality Cat Food I Won't Mind Eating

    By on

This is as high quality of cat food as it gets. And this is coming from a vet. I volunteer at an animal shelter and our vets/staff specifically asked for this brand/flavor for their cats who need good quality protein because of various illnesses. It's not cheap, but you get what you pay for. That being said, not all cats love it. 3 of the 5 cats I have will eat it, and one will lick it a few times, and one won't even touch it. But if your cat likes chicken flavored stuff and you're willing to spend the money, this is a great product.

  • Kitty wouldn't touch it

    By on

Our 6 month kitten loved the Weruva Chicken Frick 'A Zee, but wouldn't touch this food. I ordered because the can size was larger, but I don't think our kitty liked the shredded chicken texture. We even tried mixing another wet food we had with this one so that money wasn't wasted and he would just pick the pieces of chicken out and spit them on the floor.
