FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How did World's Best Cat Litter™ get its name?

Our company started back in 1996, when a group of scientists set out to create the best clumping cat litter possible. What they discovered was a revolutionary process that turned our natural ingredients into a cat litter that delivered concentrated power for a cleaner litter box—with less hassle and less litter. After several tests with consumers, we quickly realized that our litter could go by no other name, and World's Best Cat Litter™ was born!

What formulas of World's Best Cat Litter™ are available?

We have a total of five formulas that all deliver the concentrated power of corn so you can do more with less litter. The Original Series offers long-lasting litters with outstanding overall performance.* Clumping formula for homes with one to two cats* Multiple Cat Clumping formula for homes with two or more cats* Lavender Scented Multiple Cat Clumping formula for multiple-cat parents who enjoy their litter with a light, all-natural floral scentAdvanced Series products deliver our hallmark concentrated power, but add unique ingredient combinations that solve specific problems for cat owners who demand even more out of their litter. This series is available in the following formulas:* Zero Mess™ is the multiple-cat-strength litter that guarantees fast and easy cleanup with 2X better clumping and 2X more odor control, so you get less mess with less wasted litter. It's the only litter that combines the concentrated power of corn with super-absorbent plant fibers that quickly trap liquids in tight clumps, so you don't have to chisel and scrape the box. Scoop once and you're done. * Zero Mess™ Pine Scented delivers the fast and easy cleanup of Zero Mess™. Plus, it adds a blend of real pine ingredients for a gentle, natural scent you'll love.

What are the differences between the Original Series and Advanced Series formulas?

To satisfy the needs of all cat parents, we offer two series of litters that deliver the concentrated power that helps you do more with less. The Original Series offers long-lasting litters with outstanding overall performance. The Advanced Series delivers long-lasting litters purpose-built to solve specific problems.

What makes World's Best Cat Litter™ environmentally friendly?

All World's Best Cat Litter™ formulas are made with 100% natural and renewable ingredients. Our formulas contain no synthetic additives, chemicals, clays or perfumes, and they are made from sustainably grown ingredients—not mined or drilled using heavy equipment. We use an advanced, patented process to create formulas that harness the natural absorbency of renewable ingredients. World's Best Cat Litter™ contains no artificial chemicals or silica dust, so it's pet, people and planet friendly!

How does Lavender Scented Multiple Cat Clumping formula impact people or pets that suffer from allergies or sensitivities to fragrance?

As with any new product you introduce into your home, we recommend testing the product to see how you and/or your pets react. Like all World's Best Cat Litter™ products, this formula contains only 100% natural ingredients. However, if you or your pets are sensitive to fragrances, we recommend using our Clumping or Multiple Cat Clumping formulas, which are fragrance free.

How does World's Best Cat Litter™ offer concentrated power and how does it benefit me?

World's Best Cat Litter™ uses the concentrated power of corn to help you use less litter to maintain a cleaner litter box. Our patented production process compresses corn into concentrated granules, giving our litter natural absorbency and long-lasting performance. This allows you to enjoy a cleaner litter box with less hassle and less litter.

Is World's Best Cat Litter™ flushable?

Yes! All World's Best Cat Litter™ formulas have undergone rigorous testing to confirm they are sewer and septic safe. Unlike clay-based litters, World's Best Cat Litter™ harnesses the concentrated power of corn, so you can simply scoop, flush and move on with your day!

Are there any special requirements for storing World's Best Cat Litter™?

World's Best Cat Litter™ is a natural product, so bugs may be attracted to the litter if they gain access. Seal the package or store in a sealed container in a cool, dry place. Do not place litter boxes outdoors in humid locations.

Is World's Best Cat Litter™ more expensive than other litters?

Nope! With World's Best Cat Litter™, you get more for your money because it harnesses the concentrated power of naturally absorbent corn for long-lasting performance. One small bag of World's Best Cat Litter™ lasts one cat 30+ days. How? Our patented process compresses highly absorbent corn into concentrated granules, giving you a cleaner litter box with less litter! Quick-clumping and easy-scooping performance means the rest of the litter stays dry, so you use less, throw away less—and spend less.

Is World's Best Cat Litter™ safe for kittens?

World's Best Cat Litter™ products are made from food or feed-grade ingredients and are safe for kittens over eight weeks of age. In general, veterinarians do not recommend that kittens under eight weeks old use cat litter.

How often do I need to completely change the litter in the box with World's Best Cat Litter™?

How often you need to change your cat litter depends on how many cats you have and how often they use the litter box. World's Best Cat Litter™ harnesses the concentrated power of corn for long-lasting performance, and customers report that they don't have to change the litter as often as with other cat litters.

Who makes World's Best Cat Litter™?

This is great cat litter. Because it is so cold out, my cat would not go out her cat door to the garage to do her duty, so I had to move the cat box into the laundry room. There is absolutely no smell. I also have tried their 'lavendar' fragrance, which is not overpowering like most cat litters, and it is very nice. The only complaint I had is the order came in 1 box (with 2 cases of canned dog food) and with a 25 lb. bag of litter, I could not bring the box in from the frigid weather by myself. Which is why I have cancelled the litter from the auto-delivery. I'll get smaller bags elsewhere, but this cat litter is hard to find....and I did recommend chewy to my sister, and she is getting her This is great cat litter. • It Really Is the Best

I never write reviews for products, but this one is so extraordinary that I had to make an exception. It truly is the world’s best cat litter, at least as far as my experience. I have used clay cat litters for as long as I can remember, and I’ve never been completely happy with them. The first time I used this litter, I was stunned; there is literally no odor. None. Even when I scoop the box, I can detect no scent that I associate with anything near the cat litter box. My cats started using it right away, and it scoops (clumps) cleanly and completely. I immediately signed up for autoshipment for this product. It is reasonably priced on a per pound basis, and the quality is so superior that I never write reviews for products, but this one is so extraordinary that I had to make an exception. • Clumps great, doesn't smell harsh

    By on

I love this litter. It doesn't stick to the plastic litter box, or my cat (8lbs long hair) but sticks to itself and my cat's urine fantastically. It also has a wheat-ish smell which I prefer to the harsh chemical smell of most clay litters. It does a good job of covering odor too if your cat buries it. My cat, however, often doesn't bury her #2s and they stink up the room. I recommend the Zero Odor spray for this issue. I have purchased the lavender one and the multi-cat one too to see if they may help with the smell, but have yet to try them.

  • Never going back to clay

    By on

What I love most about this litter is that it is very little dust! I balked at the price for a long time before I purchased, but being able to breathe better and have a cleaner home is worth a little extra expense. The smell of the corn is a little odd, but so light that it is hardly noticeable. Overall odor control is way better than clay litter. Clumps well and my cat has had no problem getting used to it. I'm glad I made the switch!

  • Better than clay

I dont like clay or perfumed litters at all! They are dusty and the perfume mingles with the cat poo smells; clean your litter boxes after a poo, folks! I don't follow the instructions on the bag, I think, because I add 2 inches or so, scoop daily, and after 5 days I'm out of litter. How does 3 inches last a month for others? The 28 lb bag lasts 6-8 weeks which is a seriously economical purchase. I have used both green and red bags and there is no difference for me. I have 2 male cats for 1 cat box and only one covers their poo, and it smells HORRIBLE until it gets covered by me or the other cat, or I scoop it. I don't notice a urine smell at all. • Very very good

So I used Tidy Cats forever (non-clumping during kittenhood and switched to clumping later) until I didn't like the idea of silica gel and other chemicals like that being in my house and on my cat's fur. My kitty also had a major and sudden GI distress that has led to the trials of many many different diets to see what works for her. That problem is mainly controlled but still a work in progress... I did some reading that in some cats, the litter could potentially affect their digestion if they are sensitive to it, especially with the inevitable fur cleaning that leads to licking of bentonite clay and silica gel long-term. I don't really know if this makes a difference--time may tell. The vets certainly don't seem to think it's worth exploring--but if the natural litter make me feel safer and better about what I'm presenting to my cat (and my dogs or any children in the house) in the way of fewer toxic substances, than that's at least worth something. By the way, the ingredients in cat litters are listed on the FDA toxic substances website, so I don't think I'm imagining that there is some real benefit to more natural litter. Now for how the litter actually works.. I think the clumping aspect is actually significantly BETTER than how Tidy Cats works. The odor control is worse and especially bad immediately after use but once the clumping starts to work, then it improves dramatically again. I'm controlling this with charcoal filters and maybe an occasional baking soda sprinkle. I do think it would be better to scoop a little more frequently than when using traditional litters, but if you can't--I honestly think it's tolerable and usually not an issue. I have a fairly sizable home though. If you don't, you would need to scoop more for sure for yours and kitty's comfort. Slightly dustier when pouring from bag to litter box, but seriously no dust or tracking once in the box. I spent 3 weeks fully transitioning my cat over so the new litter (mixing the two together until finally it was majority new litter), and she was fine with it. No potty problems. … more

This is my favorite kitty litter. My cats are 14 years old and we have tried a bunch of different litters. They both have allergies to the dusty clay and the other litters don't seem to scoop well. World's Best never disappoints. And having auto ship with Chewy makes it even better - we never run out and i don't have to lug it home from the store :)

  • Great if you only have cats

My cat has had constant sinus issues and I've been told that this litter my help with them. When I purchased it and weened her off her old clay litter, things were VERY promising. She still sneezed, but it was far less often and she didn't have any mucus. I was so happy that I found the perfect litter for my kitty. BUT after using it, we saw and smelled a HUGE difference. It doesn't have that awful chemical/ammonia smell other litters have. The pee clumps SO well. You can still smell the poo a little bit, but it is not as offensive as that fake perfume-y smell you get with other litters.

  • World's Best litter? Almost!

    By on

World's Best is really excellent , but I can't rate it the Best on account of one thing:. It disappears so quickly. Maisie (my kitty) has almost used a 7# bag already in maybe 10 days (scooping ((not replacing))every other day). Otherwise, great litter, almost the World's Best.
