Our goal is to provide a more sustainable solution for your cat litter needs. We believe doing good starts at home and each step, big or small, has an effect on the world we share. And with Yesterday's News Cat Litter, made from recycled materials, you can feel good that you are taking a small step for the good of your cat, home and the environment.

Key Benefits

  • Made from recycled paper, you can feel good that you are taking a small step for the good of your cat, home and the environment.
  • Paper pellets are 3x more absorbent than clay and the soft texture is gentle on even the most sensitive of paws.
  • 99.7% dust free means low dust and low tracking to help keep your home, and your kitty, clean and fresh.
  • Powerful performance with effective odor control for a much fresher home.
  • This unscented design is perfect for sensitive cats or cats with allergies.

Cautions

We want to remind those with suppressed immune systems and pregnant women that a parasite sometimes found in cat feces can cause toxoplasmosis. Please wash hands thoroughly after handling used cat box filler. Encouraging your cat to use an indoor litter box, or properly disposing of outdoor cat feces is beneficial to overall water quality. Please do not flush cat litter in toilets or dispose of it outdoors in gutters or storm drains. Used litter is not recommended for garden use. Store in a dry place. Product is filled by weight; some settling may occur.

Instructions

  • Select an appropriate litter box. There should be enough room for your cat to comfortably turn around in. Fill the litter box to a depth of 2 to 3 inches, with plenty of pellets for pawing and covering. Remember that Yesterday's News paper cat litter is different than clay cat litter. Having the litter too deep will make it more difficult to find and remove the soiled litter.
  • Liquid waste is absorbed from the bottom of the pan. It takes a few minutes for all the liquid to absorb.
  • Remove the soiled pellets when they have absorbed the liquid and have fully expanded in size.
  • Scoop solid waste from the top of the litter box daily.
  • Replace the litter weekly.

Some cats switch from one litter type to another easily. Others require a transition. When possible, give your cat the opportunity adjust to Yesterday's News® prior to surgery.

  • Week One: Mix 1/3 Yesterday's News® with your current litter
  • Week Two: Mix 1/2 Yesterday's News® with 1/2 current litter

  • No dust, no danger, great product

When I first got this I was skeptical but after one litter box cleaning I was wrong. I use to use a non clumping litter because Im fostering a feral mom and her 6 kittens born on April Fools Day safely in my home. The silly curious kittens were getting the non clump in their mouths etc. so my mentor told me about paper kitty litter. The non clump was very dusty too this one has almost zero dust, made from recycled newspaper and it absorbs the liquids and holds the solids. Before the kittens were born I used a clumping litter, that was dusty too. This one does the job, unscented and with piece of mind. • can't go back!

I changed to this litter after the old guy broke his leg and the vets recommended this since clumping litter likes to stick to casts. I thought I missed the clumping action, but after switching back one time, I realized the clean up (vacuuming) and dust were way worse than I ever realized! This is also super affordable, Gus (the old guy) transitioned no problem, and ordering from Chewy makes it easy.

  • Perfect Bunny Litter

    By on

I use this litter for my bunnies. I have tried several different types of bedding for their litter boxes and this has been the best! Have been using it for over a year now. It doesn't easily scatter out of the litter box from them jumping in and out and it is non toxic in case they decide to nibble on it.

Chewy, we are so happy to find you. You have a better price on Yesterday's News cat litter than our local stores plus you deliver. Your customer service dept. is great too. We also ordered our 360 Drinking Fountain from you. We're going to become best friends.

  • Very good product.

    By on

I recently had to replace our usual cat litter with yesterday's news to accommodate a new kitten who had surgery. All three of my cats took to the product very well and it's easy to clean up and throw away. I have to admit that I like the odor prevention of regular clay cat litter better, but this litter is a great alternative.

I like that this litter isn't toxic to us. My cat uses the pellets well, and it doesn' t stick in her paws, so she doesn't track it over the house. I do wish it would smell better than old news papers.

  • Healthier/Safer

My cats are still transitioning to this litter, but it is recommended as a natural safe kitty litter. All the others use harmful chemicals, even natural clay can hurt kitty. Watch out for the ones with Silica- can make kitty sick. And they all say dust free but NEWS is the only one so far that I've not had ANY dust. Good for my kitty who has skin & respiratory allergies. Like I said, I'm still transitioning my 3 cats, so I cant say if they themselves love it or not. So far, so good.

  • Easy Clean-Up

    By on

I had another brand of paper litter before but this one keeps the smell to almost zero. We have four cats and after seven days it still does not smell but needs to be changed due to the frequency of use. I love the litter because the clean up is easy.

  • Great & safe for Bunny

Great for bunny & less cost. One bag last me about a month. My bunny only 2 pounds so he is tiny little guy. The cat litter keep the odor smell & hold great liquid. I change his little every 3-4 days.

  • Good litter, great price!

    By on

I bought this for my two ferrets. I was using another paper based litter that was outrageously priced so I came here to Chewy and researched the paper litters here and read reviews and decided to try this. At first my fresh boy thought it was a new dig box so I just left a piece of his poop in the box with the new litter and he quickly realized it was not! It is just as good if not better than what I was using and I'm saving money.
