I love this product and successfully grow lots of grass. There is ONE trick to this. Soak the seeds in lukewarm bottled water for 24 hours before spreading over the vermiculite. Softened water or tap water isn't as successful. If done correctly, you'll get nearly every seed sprouting into about a foot-tall mound of grass. I give it a "haircut" about every 2 weeks - it can last about 6 weeks this way. Definitely worth the price. And my furbaby is happy - that's all that really counts.
the seeds sprout faster if soaked overnight as suggested - also my last batch i am trying 1/2 packet of seeds because the volume is a lot
I have tried this once, Ina seems like the greens. I would have to use this for a couple of months before i could give a review.
We've had such a great experience with our cats enjoying the Catit Senses Grass Planter, and having these refills on hand was super helpful to keep the green love going. These are exactly the same vermiculite 'soil' that makes cleanup a breeze, and the seed packets start sprouting in just 1-3 days. Ours have lasted for various amounts of time, depending on how much our cats munch down; but as this is the first refill box we've needed since we bought the original system nearly 2 years ago (which came with 3 packs as well), I'd say having a seed/soil pack replacement ready per season seems more than sufficient for us.
The growing medium is good instead of dirt, vermiculite. But the seeds are not good, I have had way better results and faster growing from seed I have bought in a pet store. I don't know what's wrong with this manufacturer's seeds, but it is sparse growing and takes more than a week to sprout.
The grass germinates and grows so quickly! My cats love this grass!
Merry Pinky Champagne loves to have grass every day. So much so that when we lived in a house, in the middle of winter, she had to go out and dig thru the snow to get some grass. Now we are living in a senior complex and she is 10 yrs now and goes as far as the balcony. So, there is a pot of grass out there for her--and in winter--I grow a pot of grass inside. (Please know this isn't the "drug grass" but regular grass is her cup of choice. Oreo Beauty has now seen the benefits of it and enjoys it as well.
I have two Catit planters that these seeds are meant for and all three of my cats enjoy their cat grass. I don't use the vermiculite, instead I use organic potting soil and I find the grass tends to grow better. I soak the seeds of one bag overnight in a bowl of water and then drain and keep a wet paper towel over the seeds until they sprout. Then I put potting soil in my two Catit planters and spread the seeds out between the two planters, covering the seeds with a thin layer of soil. I water once a day as the grass grows and then once every other day once the grass is fully grown and being munched on by my cats. It grows very quickly and lasts a couple weeks depending on maintenance and how much your cats enjoy it.
The first one didn't grow any grass, the second one i got 4 blades of grass, third one nothing i give up
I have had no trouble with planting/growing the grass, it may struggle some if the cats get to it too early. I used half of the product(s) and believe this helps eliminate some waste.
