Load the ball up with treats and as your cat swats, bats, and pounces the ball a yummy surprise is released!
All-in-all, it's a great toy for the price and helps keep my cat busy while I work. This ball is pretty sturdy, which is a huge plus because my cat knocks it down the stairs at least 3x a week. Sometimes the treats or kibble will get stuck between the outside plastic and the inner piece, but the ball doesn't come apart so you just have to wait until it comes loose on its own. Not being able to open it means it can't be washed, but I just rinse it out with hot water and let it sit overnight to dry.
Ball is smaller than I thought it would be, but that's fin. It's about the size of a baseball. Maybe a bit bigger. My cat is 10/10 obsessed with it though. The hole meant for the treats to come out of is too small for the treats I have, but turning the bottom so that the fill hole is halfway covered instead works perfectly.
I have two cats and two dogs and they all LOVE this toy. It is big enough for my German Shorthaired Pointer to play with and lightweight enough for the cats and Toy Aussie to bop around. This has provided hours of entertainment for everyone!
I got this for my cats. My dog who never chews anything must have smelled the treats after my cats rolled it under something. He ate the ball and we didn’t find out until he had emergency surgery and removed a piece from his intestines. By the time he underwent surgery, his body was septic and he died. Ten years with me and this little ball killed him. It has been the worst pain imaginable. If you have cats and a dog at home, I’m begging you not to get something that’s hard plastic that could entice your dog with the smell of food. I hope our mistake saves your babies.
If you have a food-driven feline, this toy is for you. I've used both soft and hard treats, and as long as they fit in the smallest-sized hole, they work perfectly fine. On occasion, a treat will get stuck in between the 'shelf' and the wall of the toy but besides that I love it. There are two-sized holes, I personally started with the larger hole being open so my cat could smell the treats and make the connection. After emptying the ball over a couple of days I changed it to the small setting which made him work a little bit harder for it. It is a great stimulation practice for him and he gets rewarded for his hard work.
Honestly I don’t love this much. My cats somehow can just get like all the treats out without even really playing with it. I don’t use it much because of this.
This toy made it a good challenge for my cat to work for her treats and meals as she often just inhales food. My issues with this are that sometimes the holes close as she is spinning it or the toy ends up lost because there is nothing stopping it from rolling far away.
my cat is not interested in this I even bought special treats to put in it and she just looks at it, like yea what am i supposed to do with this thing, Lol.
Dart approves! There are actually two holes: one small and one large. To train my cat how to use it, I used the large hole first, and rolled it in front of him. Some treats (Greenies) rolled out and he was hooked. He batts it around the tile floor until he has consumed all the treats.
Our treats are just the right size to get stuck between the outside of the toy and the inner spiral, so we constantly have to shake it around so our cats can get all the treats. It's aggravating.
