Cheristin starts killing fleas in just 30 minutes to provide quick relief for your cat. In a controlled study, it killed 98-100% of fleas within 12 hours.
How long does Cheristin last? While monthly application is recommended, a single dose of Cheristin kills adult fleas for up to 6 weeks.
Cheristin kills fleas. Its active ingredient, spinetoram, starts killing fleas in just 30 minutes and remains effective for up to 6 weeks to keep your cat protected from fleas, although monthly application is recommended.
No. Cheristin is available online and at retail outlets without a prescription.
Cheristin is a quick-drying, topical solution that isn't greasy or messy. It has a rounded applicator that makes it easy to apply and comfortable for your cat. Cheristin is only for cats and kittens eight weeks of age or older and weighing 1.8 pounds or more. Always read, understand and follow the label and use directions.
HOW TO APPLY:
Discard the empty applicator tube in the trash.
We recommend applying Cheristin monthly. For best results, apply at the base of the head—not between the shoulder blades—to minimize the chances of your cat licking the product. Avoid getting the product in your cat's eyes or mouth.
Can Cheristin be administered to large and small cats?
Cheristin is a low-volume, one-size-fits-all solution for cats and kittens 8 weeks of age or older and 1.8 pounds or greater, which makes it ideal for families with multiple cats.
Not at all. Cheristin kills adult fleas in 30 minutes after contact. If you see fleas on your cat, they are most likely new adult fleas that will die very quickly.
If there are any fleas in your cat's environment, it can take weeks or even months for flea larvae to emerge and grow into adults. Cheristin kills adult fleas before they can lay eggs, breaking the flea lifecycle.
All cats in the household should be treated with an approved flea protection product to minimize the likelihood of flea reinfestation. It may also be necessary to apply an approved flea treatment product to your carpet and furniture in an attempt to remove the presence of fleas in your cat's environment. Low-volume dosage is one-size-fits-all for cats or kittens 8 weeks of age and older that weigh 1.8 pounds or greater. Maintain consistent monthly application of Cheristin to provide continual flea protection for your cat and prevent future infestations.
Yes. Effectiveness studies have demonstrated that a single tube of Cheristin topical solution is appropriate for, and welltolerated by, cats and kittens 8 weeks of age and older that weigh 1.8 pounds or greater.
No. Giving a partial dose should not be done and is inconsistent with product labeling. Cheristin is one-size-fits-all solution that's ideal for families with multiple cats. Since its low-volume dose is gentle enough for all cats and kittens 8 weeks of age and older that weigh 1.8 pounds or greater, you'll want to be sure to apply an entire single dose to each of your cats.
Cheristin is not approved for use in dogs. Dogs and cats respond to medications differently. Cheristin is specifically designed for cats with an ingredient not found in other flea solutions. Cheristin has been rigorously tested and approved by the EPA for use specifically on cats. I have multiple cats that lick each other.
In multiple cat households, do not allow the cats to groom each other until the product has dried.
There are no known interactions between Cheristin and any EPA-registered or FDA-approved flea control (treatment) product for cats at labeled dosages. Please consult with your veterinarian if you have questions about medications that you are using on your cat. Is Cheristin safe to use with other medications? While there are no known medication interactions with Cheristin, it's important to discuss all of your cat's current medications with your veterinarian.
Cheristin is available in 1-, 3- and 6-dose packages. What are the potential side effects of Cheristin? Side effects may include application site reactions such as hair loss, hair change (greasy, clumping or matting) or redness, inflammation and itching. Other side effects such as inactivity, vomiting and loss of appetite have also been reported. View product label for complete safety information and always talk with your veterinarian.
Fleas rise to the top of your pet's coat as they die, so consider it a triumph if you start seeing more fleas at first, after treating your pet. If you’re still seeing fleas after application, it may be because your pet has picked up new fleas from the environment, which may include other pets, surfaces and outdoor areas. It may take up to 30 days to break the entire flea life cycle. Additionally, you should also treat sources of new fleas (i.e., carpet, yard, etc.) to ensure complete flea control.
Recently its been hard to find the traditional Revolution (not the plus) so I decided to order this product instead. I have used it in the past with good results for my eldest cat who can be sensitive to products and experience head tremors from some products. This time I treated all my cats and I wasn't very impressed by the volume of liquid I had to apply, the smell and the mess it created on their fur (even hours later). Most unfortunate were the large red sores one of my cats ended up with in the treatment area just hours after I applied it. Cheristin used to be a good product but now I am questioning using it. The packaging has changed so im curious if the product itself has also changed?
This product does kill fleas. Sometimes I have to use another product when Cheristin stops working, usually AdvantageII. And when that no longer works, I'll go back to Cheristin. The smell is strong and sweet, but I guess it's meant to be a reminder that the cat has been treated with a flea product and to not touch that area for a few days. I really don't like the smell.
We have been using Cheristin for a few years. My last shipment had the vials out of the foil and it was so much easier for me. Our cats’ fleas seemed to have become immune to most of the other products. Cheristin kills the fleas and we can sometimes go more than 4 weeks. Since we don’t have carpet and have leather furniture, there are not many places for the fleas to burrow and lay eggs. I do notice an odor (as do the cats) but it is not offensive to the humans in the house.
After my cat got tapeworms, my vet recommended switching flea meds and trying this. He used to be on Advantage II and I never saw fleas on him, however she said the worms were likely from fleas and they are becoming immune to Advantage II. Within 3 weeks of using this flea medication, I was noticing a few fleas on my cat. A few weeks later I noticed around his chin and neck would get bumpy scabs. I later learned this was a reaction to flea bites. After trying this for a few more months (I bought a 6 month pack) I decided it wasn’t working well and looked for something new. I now use Revolution Plus. I never see any fleas and all of the scabbing has gone away!
The new packaging does not protect the tubes. When I opened the box, the tubes fell all over the place. The previous packaging had each tube protected by a foil seal, which was great. The new packaging is not at all protective so the liquid inside the tubes evaporates over time.
This was our first use of Cheristin for Cats. The previous medication used for flea treatment caused one cat to have such a severe reaction that for months he literally chewed and scratched himself up, to the point of bleeding. It's taken him 3 months to recover. The Cheristin did not cause him to react as he had before. Now all the cats seem less irritated by the Cheristin medication.
So I’ve been using this for 2 years and I really love it! For those saying they struggled to get it open, towards the beginning of last year the applicator now just twists open, the cap doesn’t come off anymore, it’s a twist and squeeze type of thing which I appreciate as it makes it less messy when tossing as it stays in one piece and I’m not picking up a cap that I had to get meds on to open. If you keep up with the doses it’s an amazing product thank you!
I had a horrible infestation of fleas. I started using the Cheristin and in @ 3 months the fleas were completely gone from my cats and my home.
It killed the adult fleas. My cats had no negative side effects. Those who complain about opening the tube: just twist the top- no need to remove it totally.
always happy with how prompt my supplies get here, but every time I order small items like flee treatment or delectables its packed in the same box as the heavy cat litter and gets smashed, the cheristin packs were all over the place and i had to search foe all the doses which are small ane a few slipped into the cardboard packaging
