Questions & Answers

21 Customer Questions

I need a ball that makes noise so my blind dog can follow it. My dog won't be able to run a long distance to get the ball (too many obstacles) so I will just be throwing it a short or medium distance. Can anyone say whether the whistle will be audible during short-medium distance play? Thank you!
Answer by ChewySep 10, 2018
This ball creates the whistling sound when traveling through air. Whether the ball is taking flight from a short or long distance, the ball will whistle.

Which size (medium or large) would be best for a 50 lb dog who is an aggressive chewer?
Answer by ChewyAug 04, 2017
The Large size will work best for a 50 pound pup but the durability will depend on how aggressive of a chewer the dog may be.

Does this ball float
Answer by ChewyDec 29, 2020
This ball does not float.

Are any of the chuckit whistler balls 1.5 in diameter?
Answer by ChewyFeb 20, 2020
The Small ball measures 2 inches in diameter, the Medium ball measures 2.5 inches in diameter and the Large ball measures 3 inches in diameter. At this time, the manufacturer does not make the Whistler Ball in a smaller size.

Good to get their attention

These whistle balls are great, they even catch the attention of dogs who normally are not interested in fetch. Definitely makea playing much more interest and fun for them I think. Just be careful to not throw it near a body water you cant fish it out of, there are holes after all and it'll sink.

Love Chuckit!

I have been throwing Chuckit! balls almost every day for more than a year now so I feel like it’s time for me to contribute my input. All the balls are durable but my dog and I have our favorites. Dogs only see blue and yellow with all other colors being seen as a shade of grey. So both of us prefer the blue balls because it is easier for both of us to see them especially in the fall when the orange balls hide in the leaves. My dog is an Australian Shepherd and all the balls we use are the medium sized balls. Here’s our order of preference: 1. The blue whistler. This comes in a pack with an orange whistler. These balls have four holes and they really do whistle as they fly through the air. 2, The blue Rebound (recycled) ball. They say the colors vary but all of my orders have been blue with orange flecks. They look and feel like whistlers but they only have two holes and they don’t whistle. Since the two balls are much cheaper than the whistlers and you get two blue balls in a pack, it’s a real deal for us to get these. 3. The orange whistler. 4. The Ultra rubber ball is a solid ball. This is preferred when playing in water because they float. They are not preferred when doing long fetch sessions because it is harder for my dog to breath with the solid ball in her mouth. 5. Even though it’s easier to breath with the Air Fetch, my dog just doesn’t care for it at all. She also didn’t show much interest in the ultra flyer but she is fixated on balls so that is probably a breed thing.

What Whistle

They are ok but there was no whistle when we threw the ball. They are just like a regular strong ball. We got them for our GSD girl puppies so they could hear the ball whistle as they chase it. Disappointed in these.

Chuckit Whistler balls

My staffordshire terrier is almost 8 and he loves to play fetch and chews on the balls and they hold up fine-my son’s 3 year old blue pitt bit into it in less than a minute so not sturdy

More durable than the tennis ball style

I really love the Chuckit small but the tennis ball style ball only last one fetching session and my Jack Russell can run faster than the ball and she losses it sometimes. The whistler is rubber and it whistles as it is flying which makes it easier for her to keep track of.

Very durable and smooth.

I was recommended this ball by my dog’s trainer. It is the size of a tennis ball, smooth texture and VERY durable. My dogs have big teeth.

Need to squeeze

The ball is fine but it is not as squishy as the glow in the dark ones. For my dogs the squishy factor is what the like.

WARNING... You may be robbed

Great for dogs.. You can throw hard. It will whistle and your dog will have fun.. too much fun. Because it's hollow with holes, dogs will like to chew on it. When I say dogs, I mean.. not just your dog.. But other dogs that will go after the ball, grab it and keeping it for themselves. Some dog owners will be nice and will try to get the ball back for you. Others, well... They are OK if their dog will steal it.. very sad...

Love them and Lilah loves them.

We just keep loosing them. Have to have them. I like the solid ones better because they float.

Whistle helps keep focus

LOVE these balls for playing fetch. The whistling sound they make as they soar through the air really helps refocus our dog when she's distracted. The colors are really muted though and I generally swap out for the traditional bright orange balls when it's not as light out. Highly recommend.
