Do compartments stay open until the next scheduled feeding? Also, does an alarm/signal/bell go off when the next compartment opens?

The compartment will stay open until the next set feeding time. The bowl will then rotate to the next available dish. There is no alarm when it is feeding time, but your pet will most likely hear the bowl as it rotates and tend to become familiar with a feeding schedule as well.
How long do ice packs last to keep wet food cold?

The length of time the ice packs work will vary depending on the temperature in the location the feeder is used. When using the C500 feeder with wet food, ensure that the food comes from a freshly opened can/pack. If the temperature is very warm, you are advised not to leave wet food for long periods and may prefer to serve dry food, which has better keeping qualities.
How many ounces of food does one compartment hold?

This feeder has five large food compartments each holding 330g (3/4 lb) of food (or the equivalent volume of dried food).
How long do the ice packs last inside a home kept at comfortable temperature??

This depends on where the feeder is situated and the ambient temperature of the room, etc. We would advise freezing an ice pack and placing it in the room where the feeder will be and monitoring it.

Very basic -- works as advertised

The interface to set times could be improved and there should be some sort of ability for it to make a noise/record your voice. It's hard to get the cat tuned to the sound of the trays turning as the signal that a meal is ready. I did see a review that gave 1 start because the trays weren't aligned with the hole -- neither was mine but there are instructions in the setup that say that may be the case and how to rectify it. Read manuals, people. Overall, a decent product. It delivers meals at the times programmed for relatively short money, and can handle dry or wet food.

Very handy

Once I clarified that I don’t have to keep the ADJ/SET button pressed down to change the time, I was able to easily enter the meal schedule.
