I ordered this because I live in upstate NY where there is a bad spongy moth caterpillar infestation, and wanted to attract birds that also eat the caterpillars. I did some research and picked this food (was also on sale). Normally I feed the cheapest of the cheap black sunflower seeds but I got 3 bags of this to treat the birds. I usually have a lot of birds. This food is very clean with no sticks or debris like the other stuff I had been using. It looks delicious, actually. The odd thing was....the birds used to eat half a tube feeder per day. I changed to this, and for a whole week NO birds touched it. The second week, one red-bellied woodpecker was eating it. In the third week, the goldfinches came back. Now after about a month, tons and tons of birds are eating it. 3 pairs of goldfinches, 2 pairs of house finches, chipping sparrows, cardinals, a few kinds of woodpecker and nuthatch, and best of all...bluebirds! Bluebirds are the #1 caterpillar eater so it's good that they are here. I haven't seen many chickadees, which is strange for here, but that could just be because it's summer. Blue jays are notably absent also. The mourning doves have also returned and like to eat it off the ground (with the chipmunks and red squirrels of course).
This is not just for chickadees. I've had over 20 kinds of birds visit. The American Goldfinch especially loves it. I've tried switching for a less expensive kind and it just did not attract like this bag of seed. Two thumbs up!
We buy a significant amount of birdfood and try to avoid waste and MILLET! This fits the bill, and economical to boot. Plus I appreciate the auto ship discount and convenience!
This is my new favorite mixture of seeds and nuts to feed the wild birds at my feeders. All the different types of birds love it.
Birds love it! Good price and attracts many different species including woodpeckers.
These kinds of mixes never have enough sunflower seeds, well this one surely did! It's a perfect mix for our bluebirds, chickadees, nuthatches, juncos and finches.
Great no waste blend. Your birds big and small will love it!
