I switched from a different brand because this contains sunflower seeds that the wild birds enjoy. Beware of brands that have larger sunflower seeds that are often used for parrot food
I had been using various nut and fruit mixes that seem to attract a large variety of local birds. However, this spring, Grackles and Starlings took over the yard, and basically ate a month's food in less than two weeks! I figured out a way to distract them by offering some of their favorites (a different mix) in a more accessible feeder (the other feeders were harder for them to perch on). I still had to economize a bit while I experimented with bird feed, so I bought this. Definitely not as popular as the nut and berry mixes--or at least not enough nuts and berries in this mix to entice the berry-nut birds in the summer where plenty of wild food and ripening gardens are available. However, the other birds like Cardinals, Finches, and Doves (as well as others) enjoy the sunflower seeds and other seeds in the mix. There is no waste as anything that the birds spill (intentionally or not)is eaten by other birds, chipmunks, and squirrels. I might mix in some of the other seed mixes to just boost the variety even more, but keep this as a main feed. I considered cheaper bird food, but while I have birds that love corn and millet, absolutely nothing here will touch milo, including the chipmunks who eat just about everything. It's not cheap if you have to throw it away. This is a good quality seed blend overall, and the high sunflower seed content makes it very desireable to most birds.
The birds and the squirrels love it! It has all the stuff they love! Thanks so much Chewy!!
My backyard birds love this! I've never seen so many finches! Pigeons, squirrels, Jay's, nuthatches, sparrows... Only downside is I am going through it very quickly!
We have very cold temperature's and many different species and birds of every shape and size and they love the mix.
