Cats love being outside to nibble on grass, chase insects, chatter at birds and say hi to the other neighborhood kitties. It provides them with valuable enrichment, but allowing cats outdoors can pose dangers for both them and local wildlife. Giving your kitty an exclusive wooden outdoor enclosure is a great solution. Lots of activity space and safe from potential harm, it’s a win-win!

A flat roof with asphalt covering helps protect your cats from rain and offers shade on sunny days. The durable build and weather-resistant materials make this playpen suitable for long-term outdoor use.

Use an electric drill!

I don't know how anyone manages to put this together without an electric drill. The space between the drill holes and the chicken wire is so narrow that even my tiny hands got cut up trying. I also developed a large blister on my palm pushing the pieces together while hand screwing to prevent gapping. Most of the screws are also a bit short for the depth needed; I drilled extra deep to help but this wouldn't have worked if the wood wasn't so soft. One of my screws couldn't reach no matter what I did and I had to go off book to secure the pieces. Overall, I expect this to be a decent little catio for the price once done, but the product would benefit from longer screws and not telling the consumer to screw by hand. Once I switched to an electric drill, things went much smoother, faster and less painful. I did put it on a lower speed to give more control with the soft wood. I expect I'll want to add some more screws for added sturdiness, but we'll see. Buy it, but be prepared for some tweaking.

Could be better, could be worse

I put this unit together by myself, using an impact driver, and a drill. The design is nice, and I think our cats will enjoy it. The wood is somewhat thin, light, and lower quality, but that's to be expected for something in this price range. So I don't feel to strongly that it's something I'd complain about too much. But part of me wanted to build one from scratch, buying my own wood, but the allure a unit already partially prefabricated seemed like it might be good, and definitely save me some time. I thought the instructions were poor, and often led to me having to redo certain segments because it wasn't clear what went where. They number the panels, so that's not the issue, but sometimes, there's multiple orientations you could put the panel in, and it isn't always clear which is correct. I think this is largely a product of it being made overseas and likely sold in many countries, so they rely on pictures more than written text, to avoid having to translate. Many holes were predrilled, but others were not. Usually where the screw went through one segment and into another, the segment it went through was predrilled, while the segment it secured to was not. But there were ones that were just missing a drill hole altogether. Since the wood is somewhat thin and not that strong, I had a couple of them split where the screw simply broke it apart as it self-tapped its way in. So if you can, I'd definitely recommend pre-drilling anywhere it isn't already to avoid that. Some that were pre-drilled, weren't drilled all the way through, which would have been more helpful assembling, so I could see where the screw came out. The privacy boxes for the cats to hide in, I was unable to assemble, because the screws provided weren't long enough to go through the pre-drilled hole, and then into the bottom to secure it. There was less than a millimeter of screw poking out once the screw was put all the way into the predrilled hole. This seems like either a really bad oversight on the screws provided, or poor pre-drilling of the recessed holes. Either way, I simply couldn't mount them with what was provided. I'll have to get different/longer screws. Once it's together, it's very easily deformed, and I was constantly worried about about breaking it as I was putting it together. Once fully assembled, two people can move it, but it still feels really flimsy, like you'll break it if you're not careful. So overall I gave it two stars, because it is what the picture says it is, and I don't feel I was misled in any way. I think the cats will enjoy the outdoors. But I do think there are a lot of improvements that can be made, and if you're handy enough to assemble this, you might consider building one from scratch with more durable materials and a more ridged design.

screen issues

The screen has broke on the door twice - unsure if it is a staple issue or if it is the wire issue. But it’s not good considering it allows my cats to get out

Very satisfied with this catio!

This was a bit challenging to assemble because I had no one to help me with it - however, I used an adjustable clamp to hold pieces together as I assembled it and this worked quite well! The materials are sturdy and there were about 4 extra screws in each parts bag, which was appreciated although I didn't need them. [There are a *lot* of different screws and parts - I used small plastic lunchbag containers to keep them in.] The only thing I did not care for was the locking bolt for us humans to use to enter the catio. It was far too flimsy imho and there are *large* raccoons near my home. Instead of using their locking bolt, I picked up 2 sturdier locking bolts and placed one near the top of the door and one near the bottom. But other than that, this catio is great! (And the wire mesh is small enough that small raccoon hands cannot get into it - our first raccoon visitor came by last night.)

awesome purchase

I am reviewing once more after it’s been up for a week. The cats love it. The ONLY issue I have is the sturdiness of the shelves. Cats are pretty crazy and jump around a lot on them. They seem okay for now, but a little wobbly. May have to add more screws to make a little more rigid. Here’s one of my boys saying hi to the camera with his toy.
