    Great if they dont break

    By on

Own three, and one stopped working on low Setting, a switch is going out, then high setting went and completely dead. Called company and no customer service help, the lady who answered was like “ too bad” even though just a year old. Go buy another she told me. Great, thanks.

    Heater hot to touch

    By on

I was under the impression this type of heater was more of a warmer for chickens - but this panel gets hot even on low setting! I’m worried that when they huddle around it, they could get burned if against it all night! Reconsidering if this is the best heating option.

    I don't recommend.

    By on

Thermostat? This does not turn on when cold outside nor shut off when warm. There is just an on/off toggle switch on the cord. Plus, the surface is super hot to the touch when on. I wouldn't want my chickens to accidentally bump into it like I did. Ouch! I have to return this. Not your fault, Chewy. The manufacturer misrepresented.

    Great Product

We are using this to keep the underside of our camper warm to prevent water lines from freezing. Outside temp was near freezing and under camper was 50 degrees all night. Set my mind at ease.

    How does radiant heat work?

    By on

Radiant heat is transmitted through electromagnetic waves. When these waves are intercepted and absorbed they are converted into heat. The radiant energy is absorbed by objects in the room and warms the space similar to your clothes absorbing the light from the sun. I felt I had to post this. I have put in some research about these products Prior to switching from heat lamps -which are a hazard. The heat plate brooder heaters don’t an AMAZING job. It’s not a heater that heats the air like a 250 heat bulb does. Radiant heat Is absorbed. Will it help in an 11 degree climate? It’s not going to heat the coop. But being avians don’t suffer from cold until about -20 degrees, I would think they could Radiant heat is transmitted through electromagnetic waves. Not exactly what I wanted

    By on

The product I wanted needed to have 4 feet where this one only had two. We made it work but I would have preferred 4 safe feet with live chickens under it

Safe, but doesn’t produce enough heat

    By on

It’s a decent heater if you want something for grown chickens in a mild climate just to make them more comfortable. But definitely doesn’t produce enough heat for baby chicks and definitely not for cold nights. Was nice to not have to worry about it causing a fire.

    Good little heater.

    By on

We bought 2 of these for our coops. They are good little heaters that will help add heat to the coop. Not as effective as a light however still do a nice job.

May be ok for warmer climates

    By on

Bought this as a safer alternative to a heat lamp in the coop. For the safety part, I do feel like it is better. However, its purpose is to heat, which I do not feel it does as well. We have a fairly small coop and there is no noticable difference in it on a cold day. I ended up wall mounting it by the roost so they could feel a bit of heat while they are in for the night, or if they stay in on a very cold day. Overall, if you live in a climate that you're not getting much below freezing, this will probably do what you're looking for. But then again, if the weather in your area is that warm, you really don't need a heater anyway.
