did not work at my house

    By on Top 250 Contributor

It is a very watery, odd texture. None of my four cats will eat this. The ingredients were great, so I am sad that it was not one they like.

    My kittens devour this food

    By on

I’m doing wet food only for my new kittens and they are basically in love with Dave’s turkey and chicken flavors. The price isn’t bad considering the size of can and that none of it goes to waste.

    Diabetic Cat

    By on

Good substitute for the overpriced stinky canned rx food for diabetic cats. For convenience I feed it to all four of my kitties, not just the diabetic one. They all like it. It’s very moist so I don’t mix in water like I did the other canned cat foods.

Wet Consistency, Good For Older Cats

    By on

Bought this based on reviews that it was wet/runny, for my cat w digestive issues and chronic vomiting. The vomiting seems to have finally finally stopped after our 2nd vet trip (rare-ish stomach worm that needed antibiotics) but this remains her favorite food. My other cats eat this with less enthusiasm due to the watery nature of the food.

Our 4 month old Manx kitten licks his plate clean. He loves this and the chicken pate flavor.

Likes this flavor- likes other flavor better

    By on

I have an overweight cat that wasn't responding to any other product that I tried to help him lose weight ( I monitor his calories). I switched to daves and he has lost weight, his fur looks great and he is a happy camper! He does prefer the beef and tuna/chicken flavors better than the turkey but I try to give him different protein sources since I am limiting his intake.

    Weird Consistency, doesn't smell great

    By on

I feed Ginny and Baxter both the beef and chicken flavors of this product and they are great. This one has a wetter mushier texture and a stronger odor than the other two. Not sure why this is - same price as chicken and I would stick with that. Overall, Dave's is a great product.

    Dave's 95% Turkey is 100% Approved

    By on Top 100 Contributor

My cats already enjoy the 95% Beef formula and have loved it from the start. One of them was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor of the jaw and was finding it hard to eat. I began hunting for a grain-free and low-carb food that would be easy for him to tolerate. That is when I found a Turkey flavor in the same Dave's 95% meat formula on Chewy.com. We tried it and it was a hit right out of the first can, not only with my afflicted boy, but with all of the kitties! It has a texture like a very light and very, very moist souffle. I gave as is to the 3 healthy cats. I added even more water and mashed it into a very soupy and lump-free mix for the sick cat. All 4 cats could not get enough of it My cats already enjoy the 95% Beef formula and have loved it from the start. Guaranteed analysis: Protein (Min.): 12%; Fat (Min.): 6.0%; Moisture (Max.): 78%. Calories: 169 per can. Top 3 ingredients are turkey, broth and liver. 95% meat. High protein, low fat, very low carbohydrates. Not quite grain-free ... ingredient list shows alfalfa meal, which does not thrill me. I live in hay and horse country, and alfalfa is fed to horses. But, if the formula is anywhere close to 95% meat, then there cannot be too much room for alfalfa. The other downside is flaxseed to provide omega 3 fatty acids. Vegetable omega 3 is not easily absorbed by dogs and cats, unlike the fish-sourced omega 3. That being said, I feed this brand and flavor in rotation. So, I have no qualms about feeding it to any and all of my cats. And it has been a lifesaver for my sick boy. Thank you, Chewy and Dave! … more

    Slurry, but a good alternative

    By on

We're "experimenting" with various chicken-free can foods because one of our cats developed an allergy. The other cat will eat anything without adverse effects. So the allergic cat simply would not eat this, partly because of its runny consistency and perhaps because of taste. Don't know, he wouldn't say. Anyway, the other cat eats it but because he doesn't have to chew it it's all gone too fast and he acts hungry later. We trust Dave's, and the other can food we have bought has been excellent.
