We came to find out she was born without an butt hole (wont let me use the proper medical word) and was pooping out of her lady parts, needless to say we had a hard time finding food that would work for her, we tried may other soft foods but she had some major issues passing it. We came across Dave's dog food at a local pet store and 1. she loves it, 2 it worked well with her issues. She has since had surgery and has a new butt hole (wont let me use the proper medical word) and is doing well and we are and will continue to feed her this food. Mind you we have 7 other dogs that eat another brand of dry food which is fantastic as well but this is her favorite and again works well with the issues she has. … more

Changed recipe, now she won't eat it

I have been feeding my old dog this particular brand and flavor for quite a time and she previously ate well. Since the change in recipe, swapping in agar-agar for the carrageenan, she has tapered off and it is quite a struggle getting her to eat. This did not work out for my diabetic dog, the food is too watery/wet and must be mixed with dry food. But I like the grain free aspect of it. It's still pretty mushy when mixed with dry food.

I bought this because it came up when I searched for canned foods for weight control in dogs. It may be high in protein, but the calories, which Chewie does not include in its product descriptions, are not what I call low. At nearly 500 calories per can it misses my goal of under 350 by a wide margin. My dog likes it so I won't send it back, but I certainly won't buy it again.

The dogs seem to like it. I usually mix canned with their kibble. They seem to prefer this not mixed.
