Where is this cat food sourced from and made?
Answer by ChewyJul 21, 2021
Dave's Pet Food co-packers have stringent processes in place to make sure that their ingredients meet the highest quality standards. Dave's Pet Food produces all their pet foods in their own facilities that are located in the United States, Canada, and Thailand (only tuna cat food flavors are made in Dolphin-Free Thailand plants). They test each ingredient before using them to ensure nutritional and food safety parameters are met and they have strict protocols in place to confirm microbiological safety, nutritional compliance and shelf stability of finished goods. The ingredients are sourced from the USA, except for some vitamins and minerals. Some of the vitamins and minerals are sourced mainly from the USA and Canada but do come from China from time to time due to limited availability.

Does this brand meet AAFCO requirements?

Good concept

I've gotten lots of reccomendations to try this brand. I picked the beef flavor as a novel protein from the poultry heavy rotation of canned food I currently have going. My cat's won't eat it. I don't know if it is because the pate is so hard (they look very soft pate) or if it is the flavor. I've tried mushing it up with added water to make it softer, but that didn't work. I'm going to try taking a little bit and adding the juice from a can food they do like to see if that makes a difference. I will probably sample other protein options from this brand if I find them in a store so I can buy just 1 at a time. I will also look for another brand to test out beef again to see if my cats don't like beef or just don't like THIS beef. It's too bad, this canned option is a good choice for senior kitties because of its low phosphorus and limited ingredients. But it can't help them if they won't eat it.

Another miss

Once again I tried but nobody would eat it. I have 9 furbabies and a couple have multiple allergies. I'd hoped this would be enjoyed and make my life more easy but no. Not one touched it. The food sat in the bowls all day. Good ingredients but nope.

Good Value, but dry

All three cats like it! The puck is very dry like Venison, so I have to add a lot of water to make it a consistency the cats will eat it at. I love how there is only one gum, and mostly meat + vitamins. This is a good buy, and I will buy again!

My cats like it

I was worried about the agar-agar but they seem to be doing fine with this food and they like it!

poor quality food!!!

I bought this food for my cat because I read the ingredients said more protein, but as soon my cat ate he threw up and had very nasty loose stool. My cat has IBD and he can’t have food with Tocopherols ingredients I read the ingredients and I didn’t see it in this food. Well this food is out my list now.

Helped low iron kitty

Our cat has Feline AIDS and his iron is so low that his gums are white as sheets, and he needed a litter box right next to him because of low energy, and he had started licking the ground, cement and eating cat litter ( a sign of low iron). The vet said there was nothing he could do except expensive and hard to get blood infusions. We bought the Dave's Beef liver cat food and he liked it and it really helped him feel better. Sometimes it was too dry so a little water was mixed in, but all, in all, I could tell it helped him feel better.

Inconsistent Quality

My cats liked this food, but the last case I recieved, (exp. Aug.22, 24) is dark grey and has white ingredients on bottom and throughout. Not every can, but most of them. I don't know for sure whether they are ingredients that didn't mix, solidified fat or something growing, but my cats won't touch it and they love fat and butter.

This one’s a miss

We had high hopes, but none of the four of us would eat this. Mom tried two different cans. Then she took the rest to our cousins and they walked away after only sniffing. Thank goodness Chewy responded so well and we can try something else. We were excited cuz we usually like beef. We hope we can get some more Gobbleicious soon!

K/D friendly for a picky cat

My cat, Albie, has early k/d and the vet has prescribed the hills k/d diet, but said that with some research I could find foods that were k/d friendly without the need for prescription. The bummer with the prescription is they only have two flavors, and Albie gets bored very quickly, and the prescription food is extremely expensive! The Daves Cats Meows 95% flavors are some of the most Kidney Disease friendly non-prescription foods out there, and so far, Albie loves it! Even his sister Chunky comes and steals some bites of Daves after Albie leaves the bowl. The only downside is that I wish they sold smaller quantities. I hate scooping into his bowl and thinking, "Yep, I know. This again for the third time in a row." I'm going to be buying the Turkey flavor soon to add a little more variety, just cant afford to buy 96 cans of this all at once.

Cat Dancin' Delicious

This is quite possibly the densest pate for cats I've ever served my girls. They love it of course, and the quality of nutrition they get from this super premium entree makes me happy too!
