often the fish formula is more appealing to my cats because Dave does not add a bunch of junk to their food. if they are used to more commercial foods try adding Bonita flakes. it is worth your pet's health to be on higher grade foods and will cost you less in vet bills and a broken heart in the long run
The ingredients sound like good quality but my cat still prefers Blue Buffalo Freedom. I guess I'll have to get him the smaller cans. The cat rules!
Feeding this to my walk up/ adopted farms cats that need more TLC (can food). Decent ingredients for price. However some variaties have carrageenan in it, I avoid those. They all prefer this over a different semi premium cat food that is more expensive. I will buy again.
My cat would not even like the small amount of juice off this food. Tried mixing it with other food as well, but that didn't even work.
my fussy eater likes it, like the big can too, and the others in the house like/eat it as well, which is good for me. Going to try Chicken next.
We have two voracious felines in the household and do not feed any dry food, so we go through a lot of cans. These large size cans of Dave's are a good value and go a long way, and the kitties eat the pate happily. We tend to combine it with American Journey Minced Chicken, Turkey, or Seafood because that chunkier food is easier to eat for Rome, our Exotic Shorthair because he has a flat face, and pate foods are harder for him to 'get a handle on' in the bowl. So we combine the two foods and it makes a semi-chunky pate that goes down well. Our overall rotation currently includes Dave's Turkey and Chicken 12.5 oz, American Journey Minced 5.5 oz (3 flavors) and Fancy Feast Naturals 3 oz (4 flavors). It's a lot of cans to stock, but we like to give the kitties variety in their diets, and overall, these choices are pretty healthy, as canned foods go.
This flavor seems to be acceptable for both cats and there's no tummy troubles from it. The texture is thicker than the chicken flavor.
I was looking for a more budget friendly wet food that was free of chemicals such as carrageenan (however the Turkey and giblets recipe does have that). This food has been a hit for my tortoiseshell and eats it all in about two minutes. I add a little bit more water or broth for extra hydration too! Happy to know this food is safe and healthy for my kitty :)
I am glad that the new formulas OMIT CARRAAGEENAN - a known carcinogen. I used to regularly order DAVE's food, until I saw the carrageen........and I cancelled shipments. I am back on-board. MY "tribe" of indoor kitties like it, not exactly "love" it, but it has good ingredients.
My cats love Dave's cat food. It's grain free and better priced than most others of the same quality.
