    My Cat LOVES This Food!

    By on

My cat Hamilton is EXTREMELY allergic to chicken which is unfortunately in about 75% of cat food either as a main ingredient, or as a flavor additive to foods that claim to be fish or beef based, etc. Hamilton is so allergic that there cannot be chicken of any form or amount in his surrounds (chicken broth, fat, flavor, by-product, hydrolyzed chicken; NOTHING!!) It wasn't until I found Dave's Pet Food that I noticed Hamilton was actually excited about food. And he actually has a choice of about 4-5 different flavors he can choose from that don't contain chicken! Within the past 2 months, Hamilton has been struggling with UTIs, Bladder Stones, & crystals in his urine for inexplicable reasons at just 3 years old. It is clear that we will be dealing with these issues as he is now prone to urinary problems for the rest of his life- which can get astronomically expensive. With not a single urinary tract care specific diet available to him because of the chicken allergy; I have finally found a solution of Dave's Naturally Health Pet Food PAIRED WITH an herbal supplement called 'Tinkle Tonic' (also available here on Chewy) to aid allll of Hamilton's needs! Hamilton is obsessed with this food, and I could not be happier to not worry about what is in his food, and how to find a dietary solution that will not cause his allergic reactions, or his urinary tract issues to flare up. Thank you Dave's & Chewy!!! … more

    My cat's favorite

    By on

I've tried a variety of brands and flavors when it comes to feeding my two cats. They're a Domestic Shorthair Tabby and a Himalayan/Siamese hybrid. They, thankfully, have similar taste preferences in their food which makes it easy and low risk to rotate foods to find what they like best. This has been hands down the one they love the most. They eat it quicker than any of the other foods we've tried them on and seem most excited when they see us pull a can of it out of the cupboard. Would highly recommend if your kitty prefers fish-based foods.

    Cat's love it!

Two of my cat's were eating Innova and I've been unsuccessfully trying to find them a replacement. I went through approximately 18 different kinds of canned food before finding Dave's at my vet. One of the two absolutely loves this food; she cries until she gets it and then hunkers down in front of her bowl until it's clean. I'm still searching for the other cat (she doesn't like fish much). The rest of my cats also like it. I also tried a couple of the Dave's pate foods, but none of them liked those. I was hoping they would since they come in the larger sized cans. The tuna & mackerel looks gross, but you can see large chunks of fish. The only drawbacks so far are that because of the consistency Two of my cat's were eating Innova and I've been unsuccessfully trying to find them a replacement. And, I wish she liked the other flavors because I would prefer that she not be eating a lot of fish. … more

Stinky but tasty to my cats

    By on

My cats enthusiastically devour this when I give it to them. They respond better to gravy varieties of fish cat food than to the aspic type. I alternate it with Precise Flaked Chicken and Pork varieties, and that seems enough to vary their protein sources while also keeping them from getting bored with any one food.

    Cats love it, but...

This food is processed in Thailand and that gives me cause for concern. I love Dave's cat foods and so do my cats but I am going back to the plain old chicken flavor that Dave's makes here in the USA.

    Not for my picky cat.

    By on

I adopted my cat when she was almost 2 yrs. old and until then, she had only eaten dry food. Switching her to canned food was very difficult. It doesn't help that she's extremely picky for a shelter cat. She won't eat beef or salmon if it's the main ingredient. Most canned cat foods are pate, which she reluctantly eats but leaves a lot in the bowl. Eventually I discovered that she likes chunks of meat in gravy. I'm particular about what I feed her after doing much research on ingredients which cause health problems and terminal illnesses. So I was glad when I saw this new brand. I really like the low price. So of course, my cat hardly touched the food. She ate it the first time but after that I adopted my cat when she was almost 2 yrs. old and until then, she had only eaten dry food. So of course, my cat hardly touched the food. She ate it the first time but after that, most was left in the bowl. Maybe she doesn't like mackerel, or that there is very little gravy. Plus, she only went through two cans and vomited twice during 8 days. This food is dark brown, and I still haven't been able to remove the carpet stains. Even using Simple Solutions Extreme Stain Remover, which usually works on everything. I have sprayed the stains 4 times, but they are still visible. And I treated the stains immediately after my cat vomited. I was slightly hesitant to buy Dave's canned food because it's the first one I've come across which contains soybean oil. Some internet articles say that it's good for cats, but others state that soybeans or soybean oil is unhealthy. I'm giving this product 3 stars instead of 2 because my cat is very picky, and it's questionable whether soybean oil is actually good or bad for cats. … more
