Amount of food your dog will require will depend on activity, age, environment and breed. Feed at room temperature and refrigerate unused portion. Always provide access to clean fresh water.
A gradual transition to new food will avoid stomach issues, so don't change your dog's dishes all at once. Instead, mix the new food with your dog's old food. Throughout a week, gradually decrease the proportion of old food while increasing the proportion of new food.

Quality way down & price way up
By Jenn on Apr 17, 2022
My dog has been on this food for a few years now because he has developed digestion issues and food sensitivities as he's aged. I'm so grateful that this food works for him. The one gripe I've always had with this food is that there are a LOT of tiny bone chips in it. Supposedly these are harmless and digest easily. However, whenever my dog throws up bile on an empty stomach, a decent amount of these bone chips always come up with it which means they're constantly just sitting in his stomach. However recently I've become pretty unhappy with the huge decrease in the quality of this food over the last year or so. However recently I've become pretty unhappy with the huge decrease in the quality of this food over the last year or so. I understand that the pandemic has impacted manufacturing and the supply chain, and I am very grateful that this food is still available. That being said, about half the cans in a case are noticeably lower quality - pink in color instead of the usual brown, some bright red spots, and a significant increase in water content which means I have to increase my dog's portions to compensate. But the final blow is that the price has gone up by 44% in the last 5 months despite the food being watered down and the drop in quality. … more

Thank Goodness for Dave’s
By DogLady on Jun 4, 2022
Great food and had helped my dog who has digestive problems immensely! Cheaper than Hills I/D prescription food, and it had better ingredients!

She Likes It? Maybe?
By UKcatlove on Dec 5, 2021
Molly is a senior dog whose digestive system isn't what it used to be. This food seems ideal for her but the real test is whether she will eat it. At first she gobbled it up and tolerated it well. I sent it with her when she was boarded over Thanksgiving (she's not child-friendly) and now she's turning up her nose at it. I'm giving her a rest from it but will resume feeding it next week. I would recommend Dave's for dogs with digestive issues but as in all cases, the dog makes the choice to eat or not.

Great for sensitive stomach's!
By Belle on Jan 18, 2022
My senior dog was losing weight because her kibble was getting hard to chew and the canned food was giving her digestive issues. I tried Dave's Restricted Diet and my dog loves it. She has gained weight and has normal stools.

Great for senior dog
By PhanKat on Oct 19, 2021
I have a 15 almost 16 year old Pitbull terrier, she has many medical issues and takes many medications and supplements. This food is definitely a god sent. It keeps me from buying the expensive prescription food and keeps my girl happy. She has no diarrhea or gas with this food and she scarfs it down like it's the best thing ever and doesn't even notice when we mix all her medicine into it. She gives 10/10.

GREAT for dogs with EPI
By Sonnie on Sep 13, 2021
My McNab Border Collie was diagnosed with EPI a year & half ago. She has to be on a low fat diet because her pancreas isn’t working & she has to have enzymes added in her food. After she stabilized & gained her weight back (in 4-6 months) (she had lost 20 lbs) I switched from the expensive food the Vet had recommended & gave her Dave’s restricted bland chicken & rice. It’s perfect- & Pepper dog is doing great! THANKS DAVE!!!

Rescue Dog Like It
By Gracklemom on Oct 7, 2021
Our rescue dog had some tummy trouble when he adopted us. Our Vet said to give him a prescription diet canned food. It was not in stock at the time. I did some research and found Dave’s canned food. It costs less and he loves it. I will stick with Dave’s. His tummy is fine now.

Try this!!
By Elvis on Oct 15, 2021
This stuff is AMAZING for when my little puppy has stomach issues. He loves the taste (sometimes I sprinkle some pumpkin on top) and it firms up his stool within the day.
