  • Both Dogs Love It

    By on

I have two dogs that must eat low-protein, low-phosphorous diets to keep urinalysis numbers in check. We feed a base of real oats, fruits & vegetables with a rotating protein in controlled amounts (all 'real' food that we actually cook). But on days where the supply runs out and I don't have the time to cook immediately, I needed a fill-in solution for the protein, and this works great. They both love it and lick their bowls clean! I was hesitant when I bought the first case, thinking that they were so used to real beef, salmon and chicken that they'd turn their noses up at a canned dog food, but no... they act as if they don't even notice a difference. • Awesome Restricted Diet Food!

    By on

Our dog needs a low protein, low phosphorus diet, not to mention he can only eat wet because he has about 3 remaining teeth! This food is a great pate texture and smells really yummy, like vegetable soup. Our dogs LOVES it and I feel so relieved to have found something that's great for him. The stores rarely carry restricted diet foods like this one, and when they do they seem to have zero flavor. Thank you Dave's (and Chewy's)!!! : )

  • Good Low Phosphorous Food

    By on

This product was a great find. My dog was losing weight and continuously ravenous on Rx low phosphorous diets, regardless of the quantity she ingested. She's satiated and is eating food that helps her kidney issues with Dave's.

  • Great Healthy Food For My Pup With Kidney Disease

    By on

This is a great healthy food for pups with kidney disease. As well as being healthier than traditional prescription K/D food, it is reasonably priced. So glad to have found Dave's Pet Dog Food.

  • Dog does not like this food

Unfortunately my kidney disease pup did not want to eat this food. It may be a great food for other dogs, however it is not the food for her.

My 1.5 yr old Chihuahua is on a high quality protein dog food but her blood work showed elevated kidney levels and she has been throwing up yellow 3 times every month so my vet said to try a different food. I found Dave's with low protein and phosphorus and I'm hoping that will bring down her kidney levels and stop her throwing up yellow (I will update if it does in the next 6 months or so) as for the taste well She LOVES it I mean LOVES it. I also tasted it and it tastes like Human Baby Food, smells like baby food too. The texture is like patè but a bit courser. I can say as a mother of furbabies I'm very pleased with this food and how my furbabies love the taste. • Does not like at all

    By on

My 12 year old french bulldog has kidney disease. I have tried Hills KD, Purina NF, Royal Canin renal support, Petkind lamb, Hi tor Neo, and Daves restricted diet. She does not like any of them. I have even tried to add egg whites, baby food, cottage cheese, and low sodium broths to these foods with little luck. Good luck to anyone with a similar situation as mine.

  • Bad labeling - ground meal, No sauce

    By on

'With sauce' was extremely misleading. I wanted it as a kibble topper. Tried mixing it in with food my dog likes, and it caused her to completely turn up her nose and not eat a bite of her dinner.

I have two greyhounds with kidney disease and both of them eat this right up. I put it on their k/d dry food and mix a little water. They love it.
