    Rejected by 7 cats

    By on

I'm bummed that none of our cats will eat this food, since the nutritional requirements are good for a cat with brewing kidney disease (low-phosphorus and moderate protein.) But our three indoor cats and four community cats all turned up their noses at it. And the outdoor guys eat everything!! We tried several cans before giving up. If your cat eats it, great! Ours gave a solid No. The texture is kind of off putting as well, but I wouldn't care about that if our cats had liked it.

Very dry for a urinary formula

    By on

I had some high hopes for this one. I am appreciative that the recipe is low phosphorus, but the food is quite dry. I was very surprised at this and it seems counter intuitive to me. You'd want a cat with urinary problems to have as much moisture in their food as possible. It was the driest pate I'd ever seen in my life. I ended up mixing it with some other gravy based canned foods and some water so it wouldn't go to waste. I really wish there were a lot more holistic brands that market specifically for urinary issues.

    New and Improved NOT

    By on

Tried one can of this out of the case I bought. I have 5 cats, not one would eat it. Not sure what they improved on the recipe but it doesn't seem to be any good. The texture of the pate is very mushy, so it may be that this is the issue. Cats are stupid about taste and texture, so if one is off then your screwed.

    Kitty loves this!

My kitty Matisse has Stage 2 kidney disease and would not eat the Science Diet. She eats this right up! I add a little warm water to it and mash it up. She was losing so much weight - I’m glad we found something she likes!

and my cats wouldn't go near it...very disappointed - its expensive - and hoped it would be better than the RX they are currently on.

    He likes it!

    By on Top 1000 Contributor

I am relieved that my cat likes the restricted diet food. Reviews posted had a lot of cats not eating it. So far so good. The ingredients are far much better than the hills food.

May be a wonderful product, but my cat, is a cat.

What can I say, he hated it. Smelled it, gave a lick, never returned to the bowl. (Insert shrug and eye roll here)

    Thumbs down says Dorothea

    By on

I tried this food for my cat Dorothea since she is in early stages of renal failure at 18 years young. Sorry, she did not find this food appetizing even when I mixed it with other non-prescription diet foods. I have come to the conclusion that it is better to feed her food that she will eat rather than give her food that she won't which will end up causing other health issues including shortening her life.

    Cat won’t touch it

    By on

Not only won’t my CRF cat not consider it (and he has a healthy appetite), none of my non-CRF cats want to touch it either. When a person pays more money for a speciality product a person expects the makers of the product to make it palatable to the end user. It’s a shame you can’t buy a couple to try first before buying a case. Look for a single can before spending on a case.
