Of course a food item not filled with junk is going to be a little bland looking, but the junk is what is so hard on a dog's kidneys and the colorings of the dog foods are geared to look good to the humans. If it looks good to us then we assume it will be tasty. I was very pleased to find a VERY low phosphorus food that is affordable. I have a senior Yorkie that has kidney failure. I tried all the prescription foods that the vet gave us. He wouldn't touch it. I saw the ad for Dave's pet food on Chewy. I read alot of the reviews where people said how much their dogs loved it. My dog will not touch it. I've tried mixing it with his I have a senior Yorkie that has kidney failure. Good then changed recipe
By PuccasMom on Oct 31, 2020
I've been feeding this to Pucca since February with no issues at all. He loved it. Then the last couple of cases, the food is runny, no real consistency, stinks and full of peas and carrots. Dogs are not vegetarians, and now Pucca is vomiting after every meal. He won't go near it anymore. They have changed something in this food. I just hope it doesn't kill him. He won't eat anything now. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. Not now. Horrible

Phenomenal quality, and she loves it!
By Northwesterner on Oct 18, 2020
Finally, a non-prescription dog food for kidney disease - and the ingredients are terrific, given the dietary limitations. The company has gone to great lengths to create a formula without carrageenan, which is huge. My 14 year old girl just loves it, and *has finally put on weight*. She's peppy and happy, and can't wait for her next meal.

Made My Dog Violently Sick
By Layne on Aug 23, 2020
I received my case in the the morning and fed some of it that afternoon. Within minutes my poor pup was vomiting and wretching. This went on for hours. I'm tossing the other 11 cans in the trash so not to make someone else's dog sick. My dog has no gastrointestinal issues so it had to be the food.

Tolerable!
By Jordan on Aug 7, 2020
Not my dog's favorite food, but you've got a pup with kidney problems who's allergic to most of the prescription kidney diets it'll do! Took him a minute to warm up to it and he still has days every few months where he won't eat it, so I'll throw in a few chunks of rotisserie chicken to get him started again.

Hopefully this works better for others

My renal challenged agingRottweiler wouldn’t eat this and my GSD puppy didn’t think too much of it either. Sometimes if rottie won’t eat having pup eat it will help....not this food unfortunately.
