A gradual transition to new food will avoid stomach issues, so don't change your dog's dishes all at once. Instead, mix the new food with your dog's old food. Throughout a week, gradually decrease the proportion of old food while increasing the proportion of new food.
My dogs love this however the last batch was mostly liquid with very little meat. The can I opened today had 3 small pieces of chicken and was all liquid. Has anyone else had this issue???
Bella is not to sure if she likes this. She stares at it and looks back up to me several times before she eats unless I mix it with something else. She loves the Daves 95% turkey and chicken so I thought I would try this. I buy this brand because her holistic vet recommends it.
I was a Hill's Science diet user. With all the shortages and my sister in law using Daves for her dog I decided to try it out and well I could not be more pleased. To me the ingredients are better, more of the vegatables and other dried fruits, fish oil in the food make just healthier to me. In terms of the meat in the cans, there is plenty of chicken in each can the vegatbles are plentiful and quite viasable. I will be staying with Daves going forward. They have apretty darn good selection to choose from and my girl licks her bowl clean.
Stewy texture, lots of meat, smells like people food. All the Stewlicious flavors are excellent. My 4 pups love them all.
This stew is awesome! Mix it with hot chix broth!!
I'm sorry, the food is good. The packaging - meh. I just received my first shipment of Dave's and this is the 2nd premium dog food I have purchased that was delivered with damaged cans. I have had 3 shipments (1 was a replacement that I didn't bother to contact Chewy about -- as I didn't want to be a "pest")-- they have all had damaged cans. I am beginning to believe that the premium foods are cutting costs on packaging to make up for the food costs -- even so we are still paying premium pricing. I do not think this is a Chewy storage-handling - shipping matter but inferior metal cans used in manufacturing. (They are very thin) I will be contacting both companies to make my concerns known. If this is a "typical" issue with premium foods - then I'll either have to find them locally so I can inspect them first - or buy lesser premium foods. Such a shame. The damage is such that I would not even trust donating them to a shelter -- not wanting to harm "any" other animal -- I am left with throwing them away. Such a shame. I will be filing my complaint with Chewy now. I have not had these problems with lesser premium foods -- it seems they use "heavier" cans. Just a "heads up" -- both companies produce great quality food that my dog has really liked.
We tried a new flavor for our dog and he loved it.
This dog food is Wonderful!! Because of time constraints this year our family has been unable to make complete homemade dinners for our dogs ..this is what we use now and they Love All the variety we have tried so far ..they eat it along with other things we prepare such as rice or potatoes or carrots or green veggies..we just put a portion on top of their side dish..and they gobble it down All the flavors are their favorites..they are so quiet and lie down on the kitchen floor as we prepare their dinner in anticipation of Daves Delicious Recipes..I hope this brand never changes its recipes!
Since my vet has told me I should NOT be feeding my dogs a grain-free diet, I had to switch over to foods containing grain. They had been eating Dave's Grain Free Turkey and Sweet Potato variety. They made the change over to this Stewlicious Chicken Casserole easily. It has a lot of meat, and they love it.
I was very pleased with what I saw when I opened the can. The food looks fresh and appealing. My toy poodle is a very picky eater, but he really seems to enjoy dave's STEWlicious. I will be ordering this again and recommend it to my friends as well.
