Davis Chlorhexidine Dog & Cat Spray, 8-oz bottle

My 11 year old Black Mouth Cur, rescue dog, has always been high strung. Unfortunately, even though my husband is still home, when I leave for work, she hides in the closet and starts licking. She has a pretty good sized lick granuloma, and I have been battling it for a little over 2 years now. This spray helps me keep the site clean, and disinfects, so I can use the topical, and it is looking so much better. I am hoping that the course of treatment we are currently on, finally does the trick.

I bought this originally for my cat Milo and his foot that had a mass on his foot pad and it kept opening, so he was scheduled for surgery. I ordered this and the chlorhexidine wipes for his "recovery". Miracle happened 4 days before surgery. The mass/tumor disappeared!!! Even the vet couldn't believe it. Now my dog, Emmi, ruptured an anal sac. So I use the pads to clean the wound and this spray. The first time I used it on her, she jumped off the table. She got scared. Now she know's it doesn't hurt. She must feel better after I do the cleaning routine. I would definitely buy this again when I run out and would definitely recommend it to anyone!! I couldn't get past the smell so I don't know how it works. It irritated my nose so I felt bad putting it on my dogs. I will probably save this for when I run out of Curaseb (which smells like berries or cucumber). I wish Chewy would carry this brand.

Anyone with a dog that has skin allergies should buy this product. My dog's skin visibly improved after only a few uses. I still continue to shampoo with chlorhexidine, but this is great for the days I don't bathe her. My rescue had a staph infection that was resistant to antibiotics. I spent hundreds of dollars on skin cultures and 6 weeks of antibiotics, but the only thing that seemed to work was a chlorhexidine shampoo that the vet gave me. Then I read studies that suggested topical treatments were more effective for staph infections than antibiotics, and it's important to have the chlorhexidine 4% on the skin every day. My dog had a spot on her back that was infected. The vet put her on antibiotics and recommended we spray it with this. I didn't see real improvement until I started treating it with the spray.

CHLOREXIDINE is great for itchy paws and hot spots.

Works well on minor wounds, scratches, etc. I have been using this product for several years and will continue to do so. I am glad Chewy sells it.

I ended spraying it on my hand then gently patting it into the itchy spots since my dog was not a fan of being sprayed with it. It does have a minty smell, but it doesn’t smell terrible to me, and it doesn’t linger too long.
