Great stuff for my dog's random spots!
By nlm27 on Dec 17, 2020
My dog has sensitive skin. She is on supplements to help her out but sometimes she'll get random spots. Recently, she had a hotspot on her leg that she kept licking. It was red, irritated and the hair was clumped. I've been using this for 3 days (5 total applications) and the spot is looking so much better! It has dried up and she isn't licking anymore. I will keep applying until it has been resolved completely! I am also trying it out on a bald patch on her tummy, I will report back in after a few weeks of use to see if it helps with that! And yes, it does have a sulfur smell but the way some reviews made it sound, I was expecting it to stink up the whole house. It is mildly unpleasant but it My dog has sensitive skin. My dog also doesn't mind it, haven't seen her try to lick it off. O, also I wasn't expecting it to be a true lotion but I like that it has a thick consistency, less messy, easy to apply and rub in! I say give it a shot! … more

A little goes a long way--working for yeasty dog
By ChineseCrestedMom on Nov 21, 2020 Top 500 Contributor
My Chinese Crested struggles with yeast and the resulting blackened skin (almost leathery but not as bad as elephant skin) in her tuck-ups, privates and insides of back legs and occasionally in her front armpits. The DERMagic products were recommended to me and so far, I am pleased with them. A little of this lotion goes a long way and it does already seem to be helping ease the dog's skin (after one week of use) in the area where the spray (Miconahex + Triz) is causing the blackened/yeasty skin to whither, dry and flake off. Be aware though--while it smells ok to me going on (I don't mind the rosemary) I do notice the sulfur smell when around the dog or her crate (bedding). I also notice the smell on my hands even after washing with soap several times. I agree with another recent reviewer--I do smell it but it isn't THAT bad. (especially compared to other yeast/skin treatment products I've tried which smell so bad they trigger migraines for me and so bad I've thrown away bedding rather than washing it.) For my dog, a slightly larger than pea size drop is enough to completely lotion up the insides of both her back legs and her back tuck-ups. At the beginning I was using too much which also made the smell worse. Still though, I will not use this lotion as an every day body lotion for her when not doing the more intensive skin treatment due to the smell and I have considered wearing gloves when applying to keep the smell off my hands. I will likely use it less frequently in the maintenance phase later, perhaps a couple of days before a bath. Right now, during the treatment phase, I am washing the dog's bedding every two days with vinegar so the smell doesn't build up. (I also added white vinegar to the washing machine after noticing that just detergent wasn't enough.) … more

Works ok but odor is awful
By ChesterMama on Nov 6, 2020
My senior rescue cat has had a scabby red rash area on his back and tail since I got him 3 years ago. It comes and goes, usually worse in Winter. The vet has tried several meds that work for a short time. I decided to try this product and happy that his rash is looking better after 1 week. It is less red and the scabs seem to be healing. But the smell! My cat runs when I open the bottle. I mix with coconut oil to dilute the smell and make it easier to spread. Surely this can be reformulated to reduce the smell??

Yep, it's stinky. But it works!
By Hayley on Oct 28, 2020
The only reason I'm knocking a star off is the sheer sulfur smell that this lotion puts off, and seemingly embeds itself into every single fiber of every bed, blanket and surface our dog lies on. HOWEVER... it seriously works. We used it on our tiny 4 lb. Chihuahua (who only touches her own blanket and bed... wouldn't recommend using on a dog who is going to get on your couch, bed, etc.). She has really dry skin and developed some scabs, and within a few days this stuff cleared those up right away. We're not going to use it regularly, but we're definitely keeping it on hand to use when we need to. It's worth the smell IMO.

Smell is not as bad as I thought it would be
By Silver on Nov 7, 2020
The smell is not as bad as I was thinking it would be after reading all of the reviews. I am pregnant and have a very sensitive sniffer these days. It is not as putrid smelling as I thought it would be. We applied the first coat on our dog a little while ago and I am hoping for great results. You can already tell that she feels better. But for those of you that are hesitant to order just based on the smell reviews, it is not that bad. Like another review said it almost smells like a muscle cream. It does have sulfur in it as an ingredient hense why people smell a sulfur scent but it is masked with rosemary and it's other ingredients. Anything for my pooch to feel better is worth it.

Great stuff!
By cpgde on Dec 14, 2020
This stuff is amazing! It healed all my dogs hot spots in just a few days applying it twice daily. He also had spots where he scratched almost none stop and after trying almost every product available, this stuff worked! I know some complain about the smell but it is not half as bad as some have made it out to be. And personally. I don’t care what it smells like, as long as it works! And it does!

Product somewhat oily but highly effective
By EvaGS on Nov 3, 2020
Have 6 dogs, 3 have allergies to grass and are highly prone to yeast infections in their feet to the point where they get infected & swell around the nail bed. I washed their paws with medical soap to rinse out all sand & any debris, then slathered this lotion in between toes & up under the foot pad--their feet were red & highly irritated & they were chewing & licking their feet non-stop. I found the lotion to be thick, but very fluid, somewhat oily (expected due to ingredients)--after application at bedtime, there was chewing or licking--woke this morning to find the redness gone, not the swelling as there is infection now in nail beds (the vet kept giving me some quad-ointment that didn't clear Have 6 dogs, 3 have allergies to grass and are highly prone to yeast infections in their feet to the point where they get infected & swell around the nail bed. One of my dogs has lupus & her stomach was red & big black areas on it (happens all the time & she's constantly licking it)--she slept peacefully after application & this morning her belly looks 75% better after 1 application. Will buy again & recommend it--I have tried mousse, ointments, creams, sprays & it always comes back. This stuff coats the area & sticks to the skin due to the oil so it helps w/any cracking or burning from irritation. They will need further applications, but one treatment really helped after months of fighting yeast & grass allergies. … more

Stinky but effective
By Ozaball on Jan 5, 2021
My 8 year old chihuahua came to us with an extreme scratching issue. I bought the DERMagic skin rescue lotion with medicated shampoo. I’ve used it twice so far and she has gotten instant relief from her scratching. It is stinky but she doesn’t seem to mind it.

Skin soothing
By Mhyorkie on Dec 31, 2020
My yorkie puppy has itchy/dry skin, and when her skin seems irritated, I rub this on her and she seems relieved. She doesn’t mind it on her, and looks more comfortable.

Easy to apply
By ErinD on Oct 9, 2020
Our cat has been having issues with dry ears recently. The other treatments I found at the pet store were sprays - which did NOT go over well with a cat! This lotion was really easy to apply to a wiggly cat and his ears are looking much better right now and growing back fur. I only did 4 stars right now since it's only been a couple weeks... I'm hoping it'll be a long-term solution but I don't know yet!
