My dog has sensitive skin. She is on supplements to help her out but sometimes she'll get random spots. Recently, she had a hotspot on her leg that she kept licking. I've been using this for 3 days (5 total applications) and the spot is looking so much better! It has dried up and she isn't licking anymore. I will keep applying until it has been resolved completely! I am also trying it out on a bald patch on her tummy, I will report back in after a few weeks of use to see if it helps with that! And yes, it does have a sulfur smell but the way some reviews made it sound, I was expecting it to stink up the whole house. It is mildly unpleasant but it works so I don't care! My dog also doesn't mind it, haven't seen her try to lick it off. O, also I wasn't expecting it to be a true lotion but I like that it has a thick consistency, less messy, easy to apply and rub in! I say give it a shot! … more

But ... it's not a cure all. I'm now adding omegas to his diet . Nutrition is everything.

Stinky but effective
By Ozaball on Jan 5, 2021
My 8 year old chihuahua came to us with an extreme scratching issue. I bought the DERMagic skin rescue lotion with medicated shampoo. I’ve used it twice so far and she has gotten instant relief from her scratching. It is stinky but she doesn’t seem to mind it.

Skin soothing
By Mhyorkie on Dec 31, 2020
My yorkie puppy has itchy/dry skin, and when her skin seems irritated, I rub this on her and she seems relieved. She doesn’t mind it on her, and looks more comfortable.

I wouldn't recommend this
By DogOwner on Dec 15, 2020
It really stinks and the texture is thick and really sticks to your dog's coat. I would try something else.

Great stuff!
By cpgde on Dec 14, 2020
This stuff is amazing! It healed all my dogs hot spots in just a few days applying it twice daily. He also had spots where he scratched almost none stop and after trying almost every product available, this stuff worked! I know some complain about the smell but it is not half as bad as some have made it out to be. And personally. I don’t care what it smells like, as long as it works! And it does!

A little goes a long way--working for yeasty dog
By ChineseCrestedMom on Nov 21, 2020 Top 500 Contributor
My Chinese Crested struggles with yeast and the resulting blackened skin (almost leathery but not as bad as elephant skin) in her tuck-ups, privates and insides of back legs and occasionally in her front armpits. The DERMagic products were recommended to me and so far, I am pleased with them. A little of this lotion goes a long way and it does already seem to be helping ease the dog's skin (after one week of use) in the area where the spray (Miconahex + Triz) is causing the blackened/yeasty skin to whither, dry and flake off. Be aware though--while it smells ok to me going on (I don't mind the rosemary) I do notice the sulfur smell when around the dog or her crate (bedding). I also notice the smell on my hands even after washing with soap several times. I agree with another recent reviewer--I do smell it but it isn't THAT bad. (especially compared to other yeast/skin treatment products I've tried which smell so bad they trigger migraines for me and so bad I've thrown away bedding rather than washing it.) For my dog, a slightly larger than pea size drop is enough to completely lotion up the insides of both her back legs and her back tuck-ups. At the beginning I was using too much which also made the smell worse. Still though, I will not use this lotion as an every day body lotion for her when not doing the more intensive skin treatment due to the smell and I have considered wearing gloves when applying to keep the smell off my hands. I will likely use it less frequently in the maintenance phase later, perhaps a couple of days before a bath. Right now, during the treatment phase, I am washing the dog's bedding every two days with vinegar so the smell doesn't build up. (I also added white vinegar to the washing machine after noticing that just detergent wasn't enough.) … more

Smelly but not bad
By BridgetBaby on Nov 15, 2020
It has a stronger smell than I anticipated, so I don't use it often, but it does seem to soothe a bit.

Smell is not as bad as I thought it would be
By Silver on Nov 7, 2020
The smell is not as bad as I was thinking it would be after reading all of the reviews. I am pregnant and have a very sensitive sniffer these days. It is not as putrid smelling as I thought it would be. We applied the first coat on our dog a little while ago and I am hoping for great results. You can already tell that she feels better. But for those of you that are hesitant to order just based on the smell reviews, it is not that bad. Like another review said it almost smells like a muscle cream. It does have sulfur in it as an ingredient hense why people smell a sulfur scent but it is masked with rosemary and it's other ingredients. Anything for my pooch to feel better is worth it.
