Remember to keep plenty of fresh water available to your pet at all times.
Some pets may have sensitive stomachs and could potentially experience digestive upset from a sudden diet change. Because of this, we recommend making a gradual transition between foods. Begin with 25% of the recommended daily portion of the new food mixed with 75% of the recommended daily portion of the previous diet. Feed this blend for 2-3 days and then change the mix to 50% of each for 2-3 days. Then feed 75% of the recommended daily portion of the new food with 25% of the recommended daily portion of the previous diet for a final 2-3 days before fully switching.

Love the price on this and Juno loves the taste! She was really not looking forward to meal times any more after two weeks with the Purina NF (canned or kibble versions), and with this Diamond Renal formula she is back to eating her meals with enthusiasm, even after over a month of eating it. I'm also feeding Evanger's Vegetarian canned food with it just for the moisture content (it's also low sodium/low phosphorous/low protein and cheaper than RX kidney care wet food brands) and she likes both that wet food and the Diamond RX kibble individually. In another month she'll get bloodwork and we'll see how the numbers compare to the Purina diet. Fingers crossed! I'll try to update this review once we see how it goes. Definitely recommend it for dogs who don't like the taste of the other foods. (Honestly it looks/smells way more like regular kibble than the Purina which smelled kinda chemically and looked weird)
My 10 years old Lab was diagnosed with Kidney disease. I wanted to be able to change her diet without the cost of some of the renal care dog foods on the market. I did a Google search and found this. So far she likes it. We have gotten through about a quarter of the bag and she still gobbles it right up. I do mix it with some renal care moist food, which when I run out of that I will search Chewy for options. Thank you Chewy for having affordable options to keep our fur babies happy and healthy
My Murphy eats it without hesitation but it seems to give him extremely loose stools, even with mixing it in his original food. He has to have special kidney care food so I’m going to try Hill’s next. Was hoping the good reviews and less $$$ of Diamond would work. Murf’s tummy doesn’t seem to agree. Next!
I have three 15 year old rescues, and keeping them healthy is my goal. My Chow/Shepherd has been on prescription renal diet, with Royal Canin, but likes this Diamond food much better! I home cook crock pot meals for them every week, to mix with kibble, so now she is almost finishing every meal! That is an accomplishment for a very picky eater, not to mention, the much lower cost. This is a winner in my book!
As with all of the prescription dog foods, most dogs will find them unpalatable and my dog is no different. Fortunately, she will eat it mixed with an equally expensive, slightly more palatable canned food and chicken broth. This one is slightly less expensive than others, but they are all too expensive and it is sad that the cost of dog food is helping to drive many people not to have dogs anymore. NOT CHEWY"S FAULT, though. It arrived in the usual fast fashion, so I have no complaints with Chewy.
My white German Shepherd gal - 14.5 years - is doing well. Thank you to this dry food made delicious by fish and chicken. Seems to work well and I keep on buying as long as she is with me in the world. Amen.
My 14 yr old dog Scout, a beagle mix, was diagnosed with early stage kidney disease in June 2022. To try to help slow the progression the vet suggested a kidney care diet. I had been mixing Dr Harvey's with his regular kibble for a few months and it helped him be excited about eating again. He didn't care for the other, much more expensive rx kibble. I decided to give Diamond a try. He really likes it! I continue to use 1/4 cup of the Dr Harveys as a topper on top and add extra water to further help him stay hydrated. He's happily starts bothering me to eat hours before mealtime LOL!! Too soon to tell if it improves his labs or not, but I feel good knowing I'm doing something to help him stay healthier for longer.
Decided to give this a try since royal canine is so expensive. I was impressed with the kibble it's small and a bit softer. I'm feeding an elderly dachshund. She immediately took to this food and loves it.
My dog, Suzie, has recently been diagnosed with early stage renal failure. Initially, her vet put her on Hill's Kidney Care k/d Formula. Suzie wouldn't touch it. I opted to try Diamond Care Rx (based on the reviews and price in comparison to Hill's), and it's tolerable for her. She still doesn't particularly like it, but she'll at least eat it. HOWEVER, when I let it soak in warm water to make it soft or add canned chicken juice or dog-friendly low/no sodium chicken broth, she practically scarfs it down. It's been a huge help, and I highly recommend it for those of us who would otherwise go broke trying to care for our pets.
Took a chance on this because of the superb price. Both of my dogs love it and eat just as much as they need every day. It did not upset their stomach or change their going out to party habits. I am so pleased I read enough reviews to see the majority of the reviews or very very positive. The price difference is amazing and I hope this company keeps it significantly lower than the other brands we had been purchasing.
