Transition Instructions

Some pets may have sensitive stomachs and could potentially experience digestive upset from a sudden diet change. Because of this, we recommend making a gradual transition between foods. Begin with 25% of the recommended daily portion of the new food mixed with 75% of the recommended daily portion of the previous diet. Feed this blend for 2-3 days and then change the mix to 50% of each for 2-3 days. Then feed 75% of the recommended daily portion of the new food with 25% of the recommended daily portion of the previous diet for a final 2-3 days before fully switching.

  • For sensitive dogs, extend the period to 10 to 14 days.

    Excellent, more affordable renal diet

    By on

We rescued a little pup with advanced kidney disease, cause unknown. He has been on the Diamond renal diet now for a few months and although it seems a lot more bland than Hills, it is much more affordable. He has also gained more weight on this brand. He has lots of energy and looks in great shape. He also had much more loose stool on the Hills diet, that has improved significantly since we started the Diamond Brand. It definitely looks more bland than Hills but I enhance it with treats of fish, chicken or sweet potato and our pup has never turned his nose down at it so far. I highly recommend it!

    Early days, but --

    By on

My dog has been on this food for nearly 2 weeks. She has several food allergies, so I crossed my fingers as I began searching for a renal formula with the right list of ingredients. Diamond Care RX lists all the right things (or should I say, *doesn't* list her problem foods), and she really seems to like it. She's finished her meal every time, which wasn't happening with her old food. Thank you, Diamond!

    Good Renal diet

    By on

We have a Border Collie/Flat Coat Retriever mix. When she got prescribed the special renal care diet, we tried a leading brand first, then we switched to Diamond Care to save 30% on cost. It is a good food, and Sheba ate it and did well with her energy level. After about 3-4 weeks, she started skipping meals and would not eat it more than once a day. We did not give her any other food, so she was hungry but would not eat; she lost a little weight. We tried the leading brand again, and she ate that right away. Diamond Care is a good Rx food; however, we wish it could be more savory and have more aroma, so our dog will want to eat it. We would re-order it if Sheba would like the smell and We have a Border Collie/Flat Coat Retriever mix. We have to buy the food she will eat. We do recommend Diamond Care if your dog is less picky. We look forward to following up with this brand to see if they make it more aromatic and more enticing to finicky dogs' taste. Much better price than leading brands-30% lower cost! … more

Wonderful price, efficient, easy to use service

    By on

Thank you. I want the best for my dog, yet I do have more than one and the added care, dental, physical etc..can be costly. Our dog needed a renal diet and I researched cost and supplies and found your site to offer the best price, and with automatic delivery, as often or less as needed. My Veterinarian agreed with the dog food and stated she understood completely that we needed to buy the best economically priced food, but one that served our dogs needs. Thank you. Terry

    Great Food!

    By on

My dog was diagnosed with PLN. We have been struggling with his weight since. He lost a little less than 10 pounds on Hills k/d food. He was starting to starve. Started him on diamond food renal care as a last resort. He gained his weight back. His bloodwork came back good. He looks amazing!

The price is great and my other dog, also dogs who visit, love it! My dog with chronic kidney disease... Not so much. 5 stars since other dogs like it, my picky pup is too picky.
